Do you think Forumotion should have a contest for members to make holiday decorations?

Decorating the forum

Post by Bazinga! on March 4th 2013, 10:00 pm

I like the idea of decorating a forum around a holiday. Decorating the forum with Christmas decorations during the month of December, decorating the forum with Valentine's decorations for maybe the first two weeks in February, etc.

But what about having a contest among the members to make their own decorations to use on Forumotion for their favorite holiday?

For instance, if a member liked Thanksgiving as their favorite holiday. They could make Thanksgiving decorations and if they won, then their decorations would be displayed on Forumotion.

What does everyone else think?

I agree with this like a different theme for each season or special holiday. I would like to see the FM Monster in a Santa hat for winter tongue

Yea, I agree with Shikai. Probably even with the FM monster having a Santa hat Razz. Voted yes.

The idea is not just to decorate the forum around holiday's but to have Forumotion hold a contest to see who can create the best graphics to be displayed on Forumotion on said holiday.

They generally add a seasonal banner, sometimes for specific holidays. At the end of the day if they went overboard and decorated the entire forum, that would be too much. Plus they do, sometimes hold graphic contests anyway. Depending on the event/holiday/day

Therefore I voted no,

Hi,

I am going to disagree with this, allow me to explain:

I am an Australian, I generally do not celebrate things that are not celebrated in my country, so, that cuts out thanks giving and Chinese new year for this 2 examples.
Although, I would not take offense to seeing these, I do know people who are the type of people who would take offense if they saw something such as Chinese new year decorations, as he does not celebrate it.
There are also so many celebrations world wide that no-one would be able to give each celebration a decent amount of time before the next event.
An example of this:
Christmas, New Years, Chinese new years.
Then on top of that, someone will ask for us to celebrate their birthday.
Then people will say we missed xx event and get annoyed because of xx reason.

As you can see, I believe this is a implausible suggestion.

I don't really think decorating the forum would be that great. I think just the banner would be fine, since all of the Support Forums have to decide on a theme. Lol
