In progress Add Dropdown To Toolbar

Post by psjamie on March 18th 2013, 3:16 pm

I would like to add a dropdown menu to my toolbar that would display selected boards in my forum. I have seen similar requests through using the search function here in the help forum, however they all refer to an addon code located at http://www.malware-site.www, however I get an error trying to access the fmquery site and cannot get the code from that site. Is it possible for someone to post the code here?

Here is a link to my forum:

I would really like to implement the dropdown before April 1st. April is National Poetry Month and we are a poetry forum with many activities planned.

Thank you for your assistance in advance.

Thank you for your help.

I was able to open that page on my phone and had to actually type the code in for the CSS & Javascript, but it doesn't seem to be working. (The page you linked wouldn't open on my PC at work) Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Do I have to name the JSS something in particular?

Do you have any other JavaScripts?

No I do not have any other Javascripts, and since I had to type the code instead of copy/paste I'm afraid I may have missed something but I've triplechecked character by character and can't find an error in what I typed.

Here is the CSS as I typed it:
Spoiler:
#fa_right .toolbar_list_name,
#fa_right .toolbar_name {
display: inline-block;
line-height: 30px;
padding: 0px 5px;
color: #fff;
}

#fa_right .toolbar_list_name.active
{
background-color: #FFF;
color: #000;
border-left: 1px solid #000;
border-right: 1px solid #000;
}

#fa_right .toolbar_list {
display: none;
position: absolute;
list-style-type: none;
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px 10px;
background-color: #FFFFFF;
min-width: 200px;
width: auto;
border: 1px solid #333333;
line-height: 30px;
border-top: 0px solid #FFFFFF;
z-index: 999;
color: #000000 !important;
}

#fa_right .toolbar_list :link,
#fa_right .toolbar_list :visited {
color: #00569c !important;
}
and here is the Javascript as I typed it:
Spoiler:
(function() {
window.fmtabs = {
add: function (name) {

$('#fa_right').prepend('<div class="toolbar_name">' + name + '</div>');
},
list: function (name, html) {
$('#fa_right').prepend('<div id="toolbar_list_name_' + name + '" class="toolbar_list_name">' + name + '</div><div id="toolbar_list_' + name.replace(/\s/g, '_') + '" class="toolbar_list">' + html + '</div>');
$('#toolbar_list_name_' + name.replace(/\s/g, '_')).click(function() {
if (this.className == "toolbar_list_name")
this.className += " active";
else this.className = "toolbar_list_name";
this.nextSibling.style.left = this.offsetLeft + 'px';
this.nextSibling.style.top = this.offsetHeight + 'px';
$(this.nextSibling).slideToggle();
});
}
};
})();
$(window).load(function() {
fmtabs.list('Forums', '<a href="f1-">The Forms</a><br /><a href="f4-">5 or Less</a>');
fmtabs.add('<a href="/forum">Forum</a>'):
});

Try adding the CSS to the top of your stylesheet. Do you have the yes option checked for optimize CSS. Try turning it off.

Mmmkay. I turned off the optimization, and this is the only custom CSS I'm using in the stylesheet but it still isn't working.

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those things that's so simple to fix that I'll feel like an idiot once it's done. Smile

If you have other JavaScripts remove them and then add them back one by one to see if one of them could be causing problems.

Nope, I'm not running any other javascripts.

I was able to have a friend copy/paste the page in case I had typed something wrong, have re-entered the CSS & Javascripts and now it's almost there, looking like this:

EDIT: Should this be moved to the Script (code) problems board?

Sorry for the double post but Sanket please mark this closed. It's not solved but I'm just going to give up on this process for now, it's too close to the April activities on our site for me to fool with this for a week.

Thanks,
