Solved Picture of Link to Forum

Post by myforum March 16th 2013, 9:26 am

Hello,

Wanted to ask how do you control what photo (image) a link picks up when posted?

what I mean is lets say I go on my facebook and type my URL it always brings out 1 photo from my forum to represent that link.

I wounder how do you control that for the main link for your forum that goes to your homepage?

It can be the common symbol found on the forum though I'm not sure, but if you want a precise answer, you can contact support of Facebook since they're the one who controls that. Wink

If this is occurring on Facebook, it would be better to contact them about it.

i don't think you guys are understanding the question.
It would be the same on any other social site.

When you type in a link and it picks a photo to represent the link you should be able to control or at least know where it is picking it up from.

like why doesn't it pick up the header image but rather an image from 1 of the modules. etc..

Here is an example:
you type yahoo and see which images it is picking up.
how do you control what image you want it to pick up

I believe there is not a way for us to change it. Like we have said contact Facebook they should be able to explain how to change it.

I don't think you understand my question.
This has nothing to do with facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube or any other social media site. This should be something in the script of the forum. Now I was hoping someone can help but if you don't know then just say so.

myforum, we are trying to help you. Please provide us with the url that you are adding please.

Also, the 1 - 3 is the way to choose which image should be displayed.

Solved Re: Picture of Link to Forum

Thank you and I appreciate it. I just got frustrated with the issue.

I stay private so I can't share the link specific to my forum.

Yes I do see the 1-3 and yahoo was just an example.

When my users post my forum URL on their social pages they say they only get 1 picture option and it is not the header photo like I was hoping.

For some reason it is only picking up 1 photo out of the widgets that I added to the side menus of the homepage and I just wished I knew what is it on my end that I could fix that would help me control which photo it chooses for my forum URL.

You can provide the URL via PM if you like.
Its impossible for us to replicate what you are getting. Honestly, there is nothing you could do to fix the issue since the images are picked up by facebook & not Forumotion.
