Do you mean your getting a black background on the image when it suppose to be transparent?

If so, try uploading to a different image hosting service, some service can be flaky and end up converting your images when you upload them.

It should work. But just to make sure try uploading to a different hosting service like imgur or photobucket.

Can you PM me the image?

When you upload to serving the preview shows the transparent background color but thats not how the image really is, take the url and open it in your browser and you will see that the background is transparent, its just right after you upload it when it shows you the url in the little preview box the background doesn't look transparent, but it really is.

Hello,

thank's for this report. there are indeed some random problems with PNG images on servimg. anyway I heard that servimg team works to make it more efficient so it should work better after theire update Wink

it depends on the image and file size. larger animated gif and png will come out as being jpeg thus not being animated or transparent. to where smaller scale images in image size and KB seem to work fine. If it is as much as 1 mb, not sure ? it can really depend on the image size/dimensions as well

this has actually been like this for a couple years now, i remember at one time it would upload them all.. anyway Godfather says it should be back after they update that would be great.

Other then that i have been using file den for all larger animated gif or transparent images, they give you 1gb free so if you are just using it for a few images here and there or even flash files 1gig is more then enough then you would need.

here is the link if you want to check it out.. and you can upload any file types here too mp3 flash images anything you would want.

Funny thing is I have never had the issue being discussed here with serving, all my png and gif images always have a transparent background if the original image does. And I have recently done some uploading of those type files with serving with no problems. But like I mentioned earlier when you first upload them it looks as if they don't have a transparent background, I'm talking about the little scaled down pic above the url in the popout box where you copy the url of the newly uploaded pic, but that is not a true representation of the picture, if you copy the url and open it in your browser its background is indeed transparent. Anyway, this issue some of you say you are experiencing with serving is not affecting my account for some reason, if indeed your images are not uploading correctly.

One issue I've noticed with photobucket now since there latest design makeover, is larger images for backgrounds like for example 2337x1273 are cropped down to like 1280x1024, so photobucket is useless for those larger images now because it would appear they are trying to save storage space thinking no one needs a picture that size, but designers do for various things like backs that will be scaled down to fix mobile devices properly. Youtube is such a place with there new channel design where the header needs to be 2337x1273 when you upload it so it will automatically scale down to fit properly for all size monitors including mobile, but luckily you upload the background to youtube not someplace else.. Youtube has a tutorial for making the header size just right so you can position your content on the 2337x1273 background so it shows in the scaled down header on your youtube channel, I did one and its a monster to do, but I got it done. lol

Right sometimes in the preview box when the image is uploaded the background can appear that it is black or gray, but when you use the image it is fine.

Easy way to know if the image being uploaded worked as animated or transparent gif or transparent png worked, you will see the file type included in the end of the link

It will show gif or png then you know it worked.. if it comes out as jpeg then you know it did not work.
Once again i would say use photobucket, and if you have a image that is larger then the largest dimensions that photobucket allow. Fileden.com That is until servimg have it fixed correctly thumright

Like Runawayhorse said I have never had a issue with servimg uploading the files no matter what size it is to png, but recently they are loading them to jpg. I know it is a known issue, but even if you try and upload a file size and dimension size that is small it will still convert it to jpg and not load it as a png. Just thought I would update anyone who might need to know that.

The only thing I noticed with Photobucket is that they put there logo to the lower right corner of your image and it is fine I understand they have to do that because it is free, but when you are uploading your banner it is kind of tacky to see that there in the top middle of your site.

No photobucket doesn't do that.

Okay, disregard my post. I apologize about that. The first time I did it. It had photobuckets logo on the right side. I went back to the photo and copied and pasted the photo and it didn't have it so I apologize about that.

So is there anyway I can link photobucket to the photo icon in forumotions sites so that my members can upload photos through photobucket instead of servimg.com just until this is fixed?
