In progress Banner

Post by That Admin Person on March 23rd 2013, 7:43 pm

Is there any way I can set up a spot on my forum that allows me to put a banner (image) so everyone on my forum with see it without having to go to a certain topics and NOT know about it.

An example of what I want is this (from MJJInvincible.com) - I've highlighted the banner by giving it a drop shadow so you know what it is (basically the big orange/yellow-ish image.

If this is possible

1. Is there a way I could put a "ghost link" on the image so that when users click on it, it takes them to a specified URL?
2. If it requires me having to install some code, could you walk me through it?
3. Can I set it to where it shows up on every page?

Hello Smile
Insert the URL to your banner at APC:arrow: Display Arrow Pics management Arrow advancxed mode Arrow Logo of the forum Wink
Now, for putting a "ghost link" on the banner:
Go to ACP Arrow Display :arrrow: Templates Arrow General Arrow overall_header. In this template, look for this code (usually rows 252 - 272):
Code:
<table class="bodylinewidth" width="{T_BODY_TABLE_WIDTH}" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="10" border="0" align="center">
      <tr>
         <td class="bodyline">
            <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0">
               <tr>
                  <!-- BEGIN switch_logo_left -->
                  <td><a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="{LOGO}" id="i_logo" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a></td>
                  <!-- END switch_logo_left -->
                  <td align="center" width="100%" valign="middle">
                     <!-- BEGIN switch_logo_center -->
                                                  <a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="{LOGO}" id="i_logo" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a>
                     <!-- END switch_logo_center -->
                     <div class="maintitle"></div>
                     <br />
                     <span class="gen">{SITE_DESCRIPTION}<br /> </span>
                  </td>
                  <!-- BEGIN switch_logo_right -->
                  <td><a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="{LOGO}" id="i_logo" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a></td>
                  <!-- END switch_logo_right -->
               </tr>
            </table>
If your banner is center, modify this:

<!-- BEGIN switch_logo_center -->
<td><a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="{LOGO}" id="i_logo" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a></td>
<!-- END switch_logo_center -->
Replace the red marked variable with your link Wink Now, if someone clicks the banner, your link will open Wink
If your logo is left, you have to modify here:
<!-- BEGIN switch_logo_left -->
<td><a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="{LOGO}" id="i_logo" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a></td>
<!-- END switch_logo_left -->
If your logo is right, you have to modify here:
<!-- BEGIN switch_logo_right -->
<td><a href="{U_INDEX}"><img src="{LOGO}" id="i_logo" border="0" alt="{L_INDEX}" vspace="1" /></a></td>
<!-- END switch_logo_right -->
This modifications are - note the name of the template - for all sites of your forum except for HTML pages without your forum's header and footer Wink
I hope, this helps you Wink

I will try this ASAP. Thank you for the fast reply.

Edit: I'm not talking about the LOGO of the forum, I'm talking about an extra banner space much like the advertisements space that members/guests see. I need an extra space like that.

You can add it to an announcement that is on every page.
