In progress New Members Having issues Signing up

Post by thecajunnacho78 March 13th 2013, 8:37 pm

The title basically describes the problem. I have been trying to get new members to my site, and the last two guys both had issues of going through the sign up process then not getting an email confirming that they signed up. They couldn't sign in either with the information they put in. Can anybody help me?

Hello this has been a small problem for some time some Emails get sent to the junk Emails. also some Email addresses block us and we don't know why so there is away for getting your members confirmed and this is to do this your self.

Go to ACP >> Users & Groups tab >> New Members Having issues Signing up Utilisateur Users >> Inactive Users
Tick the ones you wish to give there account to and then save

then send an Email to them saying you have set there account for them.

Now this is done your members should get any news letters you send by Email.

Hope this helps
From your Friendly helper Ape

I'm having a problem where new members are trying to register but are being told that the name chosen is already in use.

The icon at the bottom of the forum says "this forum is locked". Did I lock out new members?

The thing at the bottom is just a caption.

Users & groups>inactive users
Check if the username is there, if it is. You can activate it there.

Else, General>Forum>Security
Unauthorize subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames. :No
Save.
It is not advised to change it to No.

Sanket is right. You should not have the setting for most commonly used spam usernames set to yes.
You should not set it to no.
Otherwise users will be able to register on the forum with short usernames.
Which often get blocked by anti spam plugins. So it's better not to change this setting. As it also protects your users from being blocked out of their accounts.
Some users complain when their choice of username is restricted to more unique names, longer names, or lower case letters for example.
But in the end it's for the members own good,as spammers are less likely
to duplicate the longer or less common usernames.

I did set it to yes.
I meant to say that the settings should be set as yes not no.
I corrected my last post now.

I'm sorry but what is the answer to the question? (im a little slow)

I have the same problem with an user, who has three letters in his profile.

Is the answer that he shall make it longer?

I am confused because in security under "Unauthorize subscriptions made with the most commonly used spam usernames." there are some example like "Cheapest viagra" which are longer than 3 letters, but stil Unusable.

In fact, I can see that we have a user with 3 letters without problems?

I would hate to ask the users who is trying to login to our new forum, to make new user names, because we are moving them from another forum (provider), to your forum.

Sorry for my bad English
