Mysterous sign ups
Some random people have signed up on my website with these weird e-mail addresses: Content Removed. Are people trying to junk up my site? They have those weird similar e-mails and will not visit the site. I'm afraid these members are just spam and I should delete them.

Re: Mysterous sign ups
Well personally it does sound like a spam email. However if they aren't spamming then I'd leave them as they might not be. I'd personally leave them unless they do anything like spam.
Its entirely up to you if you want to delete them or not.

If they don't log eventually I will delete them. Why would people just create account and never log on to it. Plus those emails do look almost the same? Why?
Re: Mysterous sign ups
Hm, they should be invalid e-mails (e-mails can only contain one . before the @), and, besides, the e-mail is nearly same, just with the dots positioned differently.
Re: Mysterous sign ups
They are most likely spambot emails or people looking to spam. I'd leave them if they don't do any harm because it never hurts to have a few extra members in that stats section haha.
However if you want to delete them then it won't do any harm. They are most likely only here to attempt to spam but they've probably gone away.
You can delete them or keep them but it doesn't sound like its anything dangerous.

Hi,
The only thing you can do is delete the accounts, if they start spamming maybe IP-ban them, that's all you can do.
Is this solved?

Re: Mysterous sign ups
I have had that on my forum. Members who register but have never posted anything. Though I had account activation by the admin for new user registrations. The email addresses do sound very much like spam so I would just ban those email addresses.so they will not be able to use them again to register. As for the users who have never posted(user with 0 posts.) I would give them about say 5 days after registration to post and if they have not posted by that time, delete or deactivate their accounts.Cain@Xtremlygamersforum wrote:Derri wrote:Well personally it does sound like a spam email. That's what I would do anyway. As what's the point in members being on a forum if they don't want to post anything? Unless your forum is not viewable to guests, there is no real reason why a users would sign up on a forum and never post. Unless of course they have problems logging in or activating their account. That is they never got their activation email if it's member activation.

Re: Mysterous sign ups
i would have it so the accounts are email activation.
You can also set your user management to Inform, Deactivate. or Delete any members that do not post or are non-active after a certain amount of time.
Admin panel>user and groups>users>handle users.
you can set that accordingly to how you like the hit save

Cain@Xtremlygamersforum,
If they aren't spamming your forum then I don't see the harm in them. If you don't want them there regardless then you do as kirk suggested.
