He must be using the contact link located in the forum footer. You can disable this.

He'll most likely be sending it to yourself and anyone who has any kind of moderation power.

Ok, first things first, and thank you for your anwser, but what can I do to disable it?

Edit, yh, that's it! mods, anything other than users! But it seems he can target his "victims", cuz I've not been a vitcim for a long time, just a few!

And I'm very sorry, but I need to be off and take care of my kids for now, so anyone who has some great ideas, I'll be responding in a couple of hours from now, I'm sure! TY!

Never post an email address on a PUBLIC forum.
To deactivate the contact link:
Administration Panel > General > Messages & Emails > Emails & Contact Form
Contact Form Section
Activate: No

OK, I've done that. Thank you. Should that solve it? I've never looked at the contact form before. I don't know it's purpose, but can someone target messages to certain members on the board? Because it says that the receipients are Administrators there, not other members and the email address where it came from was external.

Only members can send pm.
Be sure you are not allowing guest to post on your forums as well.
If the messages are set to admin then only admin will receive them.
And you can always ban the email address in your forms admin panel ban control.

It might be possible, that the user PM'ed the members & deleted his account from your forum. Then, it will appear as a guest.

Kirk said "Be sure you are not allowing guest to post on your forums as well.". Where can I set that option in the ACP specifically?
Perhaps a more common question regarding that: is there a sheet available on FM that provides all the actions needed (ACP settings) to set a phpBB3 forum with a maximum of security features?

@Sanket. Members are not allowed to delete their account nor to change their email address. They'd have to request it with our staff members.

This is the tool with which you can delete yourself from any forum.

Shocked I never knew there was an external tool to delete accounts. But to be able to delete an account, you need to be member first. And after deletion, the member's name is changed to "guest", as well as in the topics, I understand. But PM's will be cleared, right?

I cleaned up all inactive accounts (around 70 of them) lately, so I'm left with the active ones only on my board now. And I set account activation by the administrator. One member subscribed lately and he didn't delete his account.

When sending a message through the form, it says 'guest' as well, but in the header of the message it says [contact] or so, and that's the difference. We've been seeing only messages with [contact] in the header, so I'm pretty sure the actions SLGray described would do the trick for now. However, I'd still like to know what Kirk said "Be sure you are not allowing guest to post on your forums as well.". Where can I set that option in the ACP specifically?

After that, you can call this case closed, thank you Smile

The PM's won't be cleared, once the user has deleted himself. It will appear as guest.

You might want to do this to act as a deterrent.
General>Messages and Emails>Private Messages
Minimum posts before sending private messages :5
Save.

I am 100% positive, the contact form cannot send PM's to members. So if any member received that PM, its because of a normal PM.
Are you sure, all your members received that PM?

Edit: About kirk, i think he meant guests should not be allowed to post on forums. Wasn't anything about PM's.

Ah, thanks for the tip, Sanket. I set it to 5 now. I was looking for something like that before. Now I'll be at least be able to backtrace the username and IP.

I'm not sure all members were getting notifications by that form. I forgot to have them send me an example, but they said it was coming from "guest".

Is there a sheet available on FM to set security to the max by ACP features, explaining what it does?

And thank you for all you guys helping me out on this one and explaining.

Well, there is no such tutorial for max security.
However, you should take a look at General>Forum>Security
Those are the options, that you should tinker with to avoid problems.
