Solved Norton blocking Forumotion

Post by cassini May 22nd 2013, 6:50 pm

Hello,

I was having this conversation with Steve in which Kirk added his comments & locked the previous thread. His problem might of been solved but mine has not.

How do you explain this & the second Ark forum is my back up forum using another forum board.
Norton blocking Forumotion Abb372255835095

The other set is from my previous post that the section has been locked.
Norton blocking Forumotion 5d5942255835626 Norton blocking Forumotion D2751d255835627 Norton blocking Forumotion C099a3255835629 Norton blocking Forumotion 7aaac5255835630

I have used Internet Explorer & Google Chrome but Norton has blocked the forumotion site saying its a malicious website.

Oh sorry about that, i was figuring the problem was resolved.
You could have just sent me a message and i would have unlocked the thread and moved it back. But probably better to have a separate thread like it is now Smile

Anyway what site is your Norton blocking, your sites? please post your forums URLs.
I mean there has to be some way to contact Norton for some kind of support on the matter, or if your site is sending a false positive? Is there no setting for your virus protection to allow your links through. i honestly do not understand this.. What about the other links in them screen shots, do they now lead to links of onlineguradian saying it was shut down? or are those links posted on your forum somewhere? i do not understand how these other links are coming in to play?

If this is the case where Norton company it self has your forum and or other forumotion domains blocked/blacklisted then i do not see what if anything forumotion can do about this? It is something Norton will have to undo, unless you are able to unblock and allow the URL your self through your Norton virus protection settings. It is obviously a Norton issue only?
i am just having a hard time understanding and exactly what you want the forumotion techs or pro-admin to do? For me it is raising more questions then answers. Sad

I guess you are using a paid version of Norton ghost? not sure if Norton even has a free version, but if you are paying for the service then they should have somewhere you can contact them for assistance,? If there is somewhere you can contact any kind of Norton support, be sure to add the link to this thread for them to see. If you are able to contact them in anyway please be sure to provide any information they may give you on this situation.

Other then that this will have to be passed on to a pro-admin, I thought your problem and Steve's problem was one of the same, thats also why i have archived the other thread,

Hi,

This is an issue on Symantic's end, not ours. Unfortunately there is nothing forumotion.com (or it's associates) can do about it.

You have to raise a report to Symantic (Owns Norton) via Norton (Your product) in order to correct the issue.
This has happened before and Norton does fix it as quickly as possible.

Sorry.

Solved Re: Norton blocking Forumotion

Post by kirk May 23rd 2013, 12:26 am

well my question is, where are these forums links showing? why would they be showing on your forum>>how are the showing up?

Also Steve, if forumotion forums in violation then it has nothing to do with a domain being blacklisted.. If a domain is black listed then all forums that have the sub-domain or domain in general would be blocked and blacklisted regardless of if the forums was in violation or not.

I mean you are just making the situation more confusing then what it is. blacklist is one thing and forums that are breaking TOS are another.

Contact Symantic like suggested above, if people are paying for Norton, the there has to be some way to contact them if you need support for a product and service you are paying for.

I mean this is starting to get stupid, deleting/shutting down a forum that is in violation of forumotions TOS is completely different and has nothing to do with domains that may be blacklisted.

So here is what we need to know.

1 Where are these links showing up? Only from the Norton message alert?
(we need to understand why these links are even coming up in the message alert, to me it seems they have to be on the forum some how?)

2 Are these links posted anywhere on the forum or in traffic exchange.

3 Dose Norton have your forum blocked.

4 Have you checked your Norton Virus Protection Setting to see if you can unblock any URL being blocked.
5 Are you sure these are not false positives?

6 Can you just quarantine any corrupt links and allow your own forums URL to be marked as OK/Allowed/Un-blocked and not corrupt?[/b]

See the biggest part i do not understand is what is the relationship between the corrupt forum links that are in the Norton message alert and your forum. i cant understand that part?
My guess is , it would mean these links have to be on your forum somehow?

after this problem it pretty clear to me that all sub-domian are link together so if one break the law the other will be blacklisted with it, when the forum is breaking laws as been deleted the good forum go back safe to use again.

i think you should have a sticky topic for forum that are blacklisted becasue i can give you a couple of other formulation sub domain that are still blacklisted.

so you can pass on to the godfather or whoever is control of everything..

Yeah but you see by forumotion shutting down these corrupt forumotion forums, it would not remove a domain that that is blacklisted from Norton. Understand.

my guess it is the end of the link info that is triggering off Norton alert. not the sub-domain

this part
t3-online-loan-auctions-need-a-payday-or-short-term-loan-of-up-to-1500-todayloan

this is the sub-domain boardonly.com As you see everyone of them links above is corrupt forum spam links. Find me a forum with boardonly.com and nothing after it and see if the Norton message alert goes off then?

info added
casini steve or anyone else that may be using Norton virus protection. can you click this link and tell me if theNorton alert comes up.

Yeah OK Steve, thanks for your support scratch

The bottom line is we can not help or request a pro-admin or tech unless we can understand what is going on. Answering the 6 questions above will help us, We are not miracle workers and do the best we can.

Because forumotion may have shut down a some these corrupt forums, this would not automatically remove a domain from a black list that Norton has blacklisted. If domains are indeed blacklisted from Norton, then only Norton would be able to remove them.Forumotion can delete forums until they are blue in the face, this is not going to remove a domain from a black list another company has black listed. therefore i do not even think these domains are blacklisted. In Steve's thread.Steve had stated that his problem was fixed when the godfather had deleted/shut down the forums of which Steve was having the problem with. So this is telling me it can not be a case of Norton having the domains black listed, if so then anyone using Norton would not be able to go to any forum with these domains corrupt or non corrupt. but who knows?, The godfather will have to sort this out
and can correct us both where we may be wrong.

ok so then that is telling me it must be the end part of the link that is triggering the Norton alerts and not the domain it self?

the link above was one of the corrupt links Steve posted, i just removed the end part and added forum after it to see if the Norton would go off or not.

http://ruhevyroduq.boardonly.com/t3-online-loan-auctions-need-a-payday-or-short-term-loan-of-up-to-1500-todayloan

@ Steve. there are probably hundreds of spam forums like this, the links you posted can stay and hopefully godfather will delete them forums as well, but other then that any of these forums are going to have to be sent to forumotion litigation, only because the godfather would not have the time to keep up with all the spam links that may be posted here and is more for forumotion litigations to handle.

Unless they are links that are affecting someones forum directly, then it would be best to just report any spam forums to forumotion litigation Smile Thanks

Hello Kirk & Steve,

I phoned this number for Norton help 0800 088 4368
Norton blocking Forumotion 08ade1256092630
I had an hour long discussion with a bloke who was live remoting my pc telling me that I have a problem with my pc browser.
However he could not answer my questions :
1 Do you think a spammer is using my website domain ?
2 How come when I use Mozilla Firefox it over rides the Norton tick list to enable me to access my website using forumotion.?
3 When I use Internet Explorer & Google Chrome I get the Norton block ?
4 Why does Norton block my forumotion website but not my other website with the same name using My Free Forums. ?

The person I spoke to could not understand the words " Do you think a spammer is using my website domain ?
He insisted I pay a large some of money to fix my browser errors & to sign up for a year pc maintenance plan.

I did ask him to open up a separate tab on his pc & to type in my website using the forumotion domain as he claims he has Norton on his pc. He would not say if Norton has marked my website as malicious.

The fifth pic is a shot of my two ArkCaps&Videos websites using Forumotion & My Free Forums & my Twitter.

By the end of an hour I terminated the phone call, as I am not prepared to fork out money to have my pc fixed & for a guy from a call centre. Then to put me through to another claimed technician to go through the whole process again.
The thing that really narked me off is that he would not confirm or deny that Norton has blocked my website using forumotion.
