Try performing the back up from here, make sure to select theme.

Thread was moved back here out of archives with the request from Rhino.Freak saying the problem is not yet resolved.

So whats happening now Rhino.Freak?
if it is your forums css you are looking for then you may have to install the skin again, or you can try going to.

Admin panel>Display>Pictures and colors>colors>css stylesheet

Right at the top you will see a link that says See your forums basic css click on that and you can copy the whole css from there, Now of course it will not be anything you have modified, added or customized, but it will be the starting css to go back and try to fix all you need once again.

remember to always keep copy of your css in a text file or note pad, even on a HTML page or java script page. because if you change a theme or mess something up along the way there is not really a way to recover it. so be sure to always keep a copy in case you encounter a problem or loose any of it.

the temp themes options dose not save css.
Also if you was to change skins it would also remove the css or replace it with what ever skin you changed it to.

Do you remember what skin you used, just install the skin again and adjust it from that, thats about all you can do in a situation like this. I mean if a full back-up restore dint work through the forums utilities then not much you can do accept start adjusting setting css with the basic css you have now or re-install the skin you used to start with from that point.

Or see if you can go back further in themes management?

Hi,

Today I had to perform a back up of one of my forums and I used the same method as you via utilities and I went back a few days as I thought it would solve the problem but it didn't. So I tried going back another few days and it seemed to do the trick, maybe you could try this if you haven't already.

No it won't. Your best bet would be reinstall the skin from hitskin.com & do the css modifications after that.

You should always save any codes you add to your forum, so if something happens you will have it somewhere else.

Hi,

Everything has been suggested, sorry there's nothing we can do. Slg made a strong suggestion, make sure you do that from now on. Wink

Is this solved?

This is one reason i always try to remind people to only use css when needed. many of the things people use css for can be done right through the admin panel, so if things can be done the same way without css always go that route first and use css only when it is needed.

Other then that.
Rhino.Freak. We know how you feel, we have all been there before and lost things, it stinks for sure, just try to lean as you go along and always back up anything that you will be customizing such as templates, css, java-scripts and any other coding you may use for modifications.

What i learned. it pays to have a test forum, everything you modify on your main forum, then do the same to your test forum. this way you will always have it there. Or you can even store codes in a admin section of the forum, or even HTML pages, along with keeping copies in text files etc..

Since all was pretty much suggested and answered i will now mark solved and move to archives
