This code below will set all the background rows grey, but if you want to change the red color (which I'm still unclear on) looks like an Admin background color, you can change that red color in Display>>Colors>>

Code:
td.row1, td.row2, td.row3 {
    background-color: #262626 !important;
}

Please post the link to your forum.
you should use the image up-loader here on support for screen shots as well. just click the Host a image option.

Actually i dont even think you need css for this. I believe the reason the one topic reply is black and the other is gray is because your table row 2 highlight is set to either black or gray. But cant be sure without seeing your forum.

check here.

admin panel>display>colors

scroll down to table row 2 highlight and fix there, if it is already gray, then you will have to change table row one and three to gray as well. And if not then we need the link to your forum so we can see how we can adjust the css correctly for what you need. I think the forum widgets are set off the same table row css so not sure how to fix that yet, but we can understand batter once we see the forum.

Oh and the code i gave you was not just for the quick reply, it was also for the subject box, thats what i thought you meant before. sorry about that Smile

To clarify: He wants both of them to be gray, he doesn't want it to alternate gray and black and he doesn't want the red.

Yes it can be set right in the colors list without CSS .
I try to tell people to only use CSS when it is the only way to it.

So to reinerate , please post your forum link.
Then try checking your colors list like I had said above.
If it comes down to that not working and can only be done with CSS.
Then we need the form link so we can see what's what hands on and try to provide the correct coding needed.

Well I checked his forum and all the rows are grey now like he wanted, so I don't think thats a concern of theres anymore, however the widgets turned grey as well. But like Kirk said if it can be done without css would be better and maybe the color change would not effect the widgets. But it looks to me like its tables (td class) thats controlling the colors of all the td rows and thats the problem because it effects all of them throughout the forum. If they were different classes would easier. Perhaps can be controlled by going into the template.

He said the backgrounds are the same, but he only wants it for the posts. Yet it's for the widgets and others too.

Then put the first code i provide inside the viewtopic_body template and remove it on the CSS, use this one when you'll put the code on the template:

Code:
<style>
.forumline .row1 {
background-color: #262626 !important;
}
</style>
