Reply / Quickreply color

Post by SilenR on June 12th 2013, 10:11 pm

Hello!

I want to change the reply / quickreply background color to#131314, but I failed so far (the color is still white). Below you have the code I used, but didn`t change anything:
Code:
textarea#text_editor_textarea.inputbox {
color: #131314;
}

Any suggestions?

PS: This is the forum I am talking about:http://targaryen.forumotion.com/(phpBB3) and I want to change the quickreply / reply background color. Thanks in advance! Smile

As there is a Contenteditable body (iframe) and a textarea you can't change both colors. I'm sorry to say that. You can try this though...

Code:
var frame = $('#textarea_content iframe');
$('body',frame.contents()).css('background','#131314');

The add CSS

Code:
#textarea_content iframe, #textarea_content textarea{background:#131314}

CSS:
Code:
div.sceditor-toolbar {
background: #131314 !important;
border-bottom: none !important;
}
.sceditor-container iframe {
background: #131314 !important;
color: white !important
}
div.sceditor-container.ltr.wysiwygMode {
background: #131314 !important;
}

Javascript:
Code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('div.sceditor-container.ltr.wysiwygMode iframe').ready(function() {
$('div.sceditor-container.ltr.wysiwygMode iframe').contents().find('p').css('color','white');
});
});

Hello,
I was wondering how to change the background color of the quick reply/post reply to black, if it was possible.
The new white does not look good with my forum.

My forum: www.nngo.biz

Thanks for any help.

Edit: black background with white text would be most helpful, it is phpbb v3

Code:
$(document).ready(function() {
var frame = $('#textarea_content iframe');
$('body',frame.contents()).css('background','#131314');
frame.css('background','#131314');
});

Then add CSS:

Code:
#textarea_content textarea{background:#131314!important}

If the JS doesn't work please let me know because since in the topics doesn't work for the Regular Reply we will have to do this-

Code:
$(document).ready(function() {
var frame = $('#textarea_content iframe');
if(frame){
$('body',frame.contents()).css('background','#131314');
frame.css('background','#131314');
}
});

Coding it isn't hard, you just need to figure some aspects out that is all

Hi! I'm not the original poster, but I have the same problem. I'm only decent with CSS, mostly learning through this help forum XD.

@E-Mark wrote:CSS:

div.sceditor-container.ltr.wysiwygMode {
background: #131314 !important;

^ This works great for me, and for the board I'm working on, I'm using black. Works great; however, I was wondering if I could have a CSS to change the text colour in that area? Because black background means you can't see the text, which is also black. Sorry, I'm not too great at this, but thank you, everyone who's helping!

You should put the Javascript to make the color white.

Hello!
Thanks everyone for answers!
I tried Mark`s solution (post #4) and it works. It is also possible to change the white background marked as "this" in the picture?

@ryan
Check the 4th post. You have all code there.

Yes. Add this to your CSS:
Code:
.sceditor-button {
background: #111 !important;
}

Just change the #111 to your desired background color Smile.

I changed the code a little, so now it works also when we "Switch Editor Mode".

Pictures and Colors -> Colors -> CSS:
Code:
.sceditor-container textarea {
background: #131314 !important;
}
div.sceditor-toolbar {
background: #131314 !important;
border-bottom: none !important;
}
.sceditor-container iframe {
background: #131314 !important;
color: white !important
}
div.sceditor-container.ltr.wysiwygMode {
background: #131314 !important;
}
.sceditor-container {
width: 100% !important;
background: #131314 !important;
}

Modules ->HTML & JAVASCRIPT ->Javascript codes management:
Code:

$(document).ready(function() {
$('div.sceditor-container.ltr.wysiwygMode iframe').ready(function() {
$('div.sceditor-container.ltr.wysiwygMode iframe').contents().find('p').css('color','white');
});
});
And:
Code:

$(document).ready(function() {
$('.sceditor-container textarea').ready(function() {
$('.sceditor-container textarea').css('color','white');
});
});

Post by anto_capone on June 14th 2013, 6:07 am

I was able to change the background color with the CSS (thanks!), but I can't get the text to change to white. So, I can't see the text in the reply/quick reply box.

Tried pasting the codes from here to the Modules ->HTML & JAVASCRIPT ->Javascript codes management but so far no change. Not familiar with using it so not sure whats wrong.

Any help be appreciated! Smile

Right I've finally figured out how to change the background to black but can't change the text to white in Java. I've checked the box 'In all pages'
What should I use for the title?

Figured it out. Ensure 'Enable Javascript code management' is ticked after entering code. Very Happy

Maybe jquery is not installed?
Try to add these codes:
Code:
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script>

Code:
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

I hope it helps, however for me it works without jquery...

EDIT:
The problem is, the javascript which changes the text color adds:
Code:

[color=white]Test[/color]
So if we change our forum skin to light, the text will be invisible...

Another problem. When quoting a poster, the quote box is still white and thus you can't see the text. There is also no curser to reply underneath the quote box

And ideas?

Or better still, is there any way I can revert back to the perfectly good previous reply box? This new one is causing me nothing but grief Sad

Guys, just disable "WYSIWYG display" as default, and all problems will be solved Very Happy

Check out this topic:

None of the javascript codes are working for me- the option to Enable Javascript code management is set to yes. I set the codes to all pages, but nothing. Sad

The overall_header in the template - general has been modified to add a chatbox to the site, but even when I defaulted that the codes didn't work. Sad

What if you add these codes to: overall_footer_end?
Add this code at the end of overall_footer_end, but before: < / body > < / html > tags:
Code:

<script language="JavaScript">
$(document).ready(function() {
  $('div.sceditor-container.ltr.wysiwygMode iframe').ready(function() {
  $('div.sceditor-container.ltr.wysiwygMode iframe').contents().find('p').css('color','white');
  });
});
$(document).ready(function() {
  $('.sceditor-container textarea').ready(function() {
  $('.sceditor-container textarea').css('color','white');
  });
});
my_setcookie('WYSIWYG_STATE', 0, true);
</script>

I hope it helps, if not then it must be jQuery problem, so then add:
Code:

<script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script>
<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
Above the first scripts.

Changing the overall_footer_end did the trick, thanks so much!

One more thing, I made the default for users to be not WYSIWYG, and that works fine. But, the WYSIWYG has a black background with black text. I'm not too worried about it, but is there a way to default the text in WYSIWYG to white, in case some of my users prefer to use that mode for some strange reason?

Really appreciate all the help!
