Hello, Where are you placing the codes provided? If you're going to use what Sanket provided, make sure to add the code at the very bottom of the CSS stylesheet.

That screenshot shows a grey and black background which is what you said you wanted, I don't see the problem.

So what you want is for both messages to be Grey, right? You want the entire background to be grey? What about the red behind the message do you want that to remain red or do you want that grey too?
