This is just a bug report. I don't know if it's a problem with the new editor, but I noticed that the forum feature to automatically turn URLs in post text into clickable links screws up if the URL has brackets around it, like this (www.example.com).

If you click that link to example.com, you can see it's an invalid link (to be clear, I didn't use any BBCode or rich-text in this post).

You need to add a space before and after the link.

That shouldn't be necessary though, I think they should just not include any punctuation as part of the URL. The thing is someone may be writing something and just casually include a URL in brackets like that, and it ends up turning into a bad link.

You could always make a suggestion in the suggestions section. I do agree, especially when I am reviewing I use links a lot, since most editors on a variety of forums don't have this issue I don't think to make a space to avoid the url going bad.

And honestly it looks slightly silly ( url ) like that. So if you make a suggestion I'd vote yes.

Ok, I made a poll,

https://help.forumotion.com/t125342-improve-auto-detection-of-urls-in-posts-to-exclude-parenthesis

I'm not sure if I should mark this topic as 'solved' since it's not really solved (are they working on it?), unless the mods think that's the right thing to do in this situation.

Disable WYSIWYG mode.

(Use url tags instead.)
