Solved Changing Category bar

Post by chaozi on July 1st 2013, 12:25 am

    Hey there,

    i'm having an appearance and layout issue that involves the category bar. Refer to the image below if you do not understand what part of the forum I mean.

    What I am trying to do, is to achieve at least one of the following:

    • Remove all text from the category bar including Category name, topics, posts and last posts
    • Remove just 'Topics' 'posts' 'last posts'

    With them out of the way, I want to be able to have an image that stretches across the category bar. usually, you could just put an image where the Category title would be but that does not remove the rest of the words on the bar nor does it stretch right across. For a better idea of how that would end up looking, refer to this forum: http://bleachsoulroleplay.proboards.com/

    If this isn't possible, then is it at all possible to make the category bar look like how this forum has done it?: http://fairytail-roleplay.boards.net/ They do not use images, but large fonts and have removed the rest of the words on the bar. Granted, these two forums I linked are both Proboards, I wish to know if it can be done on Forumotion through any means.

The forum I am planning to do this to is here: http://afterlight.forumotion.co.uk/

That doesn't allow me to stretch an image across the category bar. I should have made it clearer that this was the ultimate goal.

EDIT:

I have found a post on here that lets you remove two of the columns which I have gone and done but leaves the 'Last Post' column there. Is there any way to merge the last posts column and the main column at all?

Iv'e managed to merge most of the columns with a code I found elsewhere. It isn't possible to merge the Last posts column at all then?

Can you break it then? I found that its all deletable so it doesn't show up at all. Maybe if there was a way to separate it entirely?

Hi! Very Happy

You can make a trick that will create the impression that all the columns are merged. I need to know if your index_box template is modified/customized. If yes, please post it here.

Yes it is. I followed this guide to modify it: http://help.forumotion.com/t81777-deleting-columns-topics-and-messages

Here is my code:

Code:

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="0" align="center">
 <tr>
 <td valign="bottom">
 <!-- BEGIN switch_user_logged_in -->
 <span class="gensmall">{LAST_VISIT_DATE}<br />
 {CURRENT_TIME}<br />

 <!-- END switch_user_logged_in -->
 <div class="nav"><a class="nav" href="{U_INDEX}">{L_INDEX}</a>{NAV_CAT_DESC}</div>
 </td>
 <td class="gensmall" align="right" valign="bottom">

Removing the line doesn't merge the columns though. The issue is the fact that I cannot have a banner that stretches across the entire thing. Removing the line doesn't remove the fact that it is still two tables.

<th nowrap="nowrap" width="150"><div style="width:150px;">{L_LASTPOST}</div></th>
to this:
Code:
<th nowrap="nowrap" width="150"><div style="width:150px;"></div></th>
Also this:
Code:
<table class="forumline" width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="0">
to this:
Code:
<table class="forumline" width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">

Sweet, that worked. Thanks for the help! Im unsure if this'll let me have the banner spread from the left all the way to the right, but I can do some gradients to make it fit. Thank you again!
