Font style, changing fonts

Post by Raziel21 on July 5th 2013, 10:44 pm

Hello fellow forumotion members.

I'd like to use custom fonts on the forum, preferably trough either a template or js code. I'd like to use this font as an option alongside ariel, verdana, times new roman etc.

http://www.cufonfonts.com/en/font/7905/medici-text

Is it possible to do so?

I think this will be tricky because the font package would need to be hosted somewhere. You may want to look at this thread to get an idea of what would need to be done.

Google has a medieval font, but it's not quite as fancy looking as the one you want to use. Hopefully others on here will be able to provide a solution for you.

Edit:

It looks like the website does have a HTML script you can use. Here it is:

Code:
<script src="http://cufon.shoqolate.com/js/cufon-yui.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="medici-text.cufonfonts.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
Cufon.replace('.medici_text', { fontFamily: 'Medici Text', hover: true });
Cufon.replace('.medici_text', { fontFamily: 'Medici Text', hover: true });
</script>

See if you can work with that. If I have time a little later, I'll try to help further if no one else has.

I wonder about

Code:
[font=monospace]Cufon.replace('.medici_text'

Is it supposed to be like that?! What needs to be altered in the code so that it affects the letters on the forum?!

What are the possible options there? Headers, widgets etc?!

Well this is what the HTML looks like with one of the the font options in the editor.

Code:
<a class="sceditor-font-option" data-font="Georgia" href="#" unselectable="on">
     <font face="Georgia" unselectable="on">
          Georgia
     </font>
</a>

I have no doubt that what you are trying to is possible, it just will take a little bit of tinkering to get it working. I'll keep playing around with it and see if I can come up with anything.

Well, I've looked into it the best that I could and I am out of ideas. I can't quite figure out how to reference the font in a way that can allow us to insert your font option into the editor toolbar's font options. Sorry I couldn't get it working for you Crying or Very sad

Hopefully someone else with more knowledge on this type of thing will jump in and and be able to help.

Well, even if it's not implemented in the toolbar, how about using it in regular text but with HTML?!

Bump > Any sslution to this. The key is that the font [from the first post in this topic] appears in the "post" on the forum, doesn't matter how it'll happen as long as it's not flash based.
