Solved Changing a Forum

Post by NiteSpinR on July 8th 2013, 10:57 pm

Legend

How do I change a Forum that is listed under Categories into a Topic ?

The previous Tech has our homepage set up as a "Category" under it are the various "Forums"
In those Forums there are "Topics"
The Forums can only be created by the Admins. The Topics can be created by our members.

Basically there are 3 layers Category/Forums/Topics.

If I am allowed to give a link to my homepage I may be able to word my question in a manor that's easier explained.

I'm sorry not sure I fully get what your asking... Are you saying you want to change a category into a forum? Or a forum into a category? Basically that process...

When you say topic it sounds more like creating a topic which can be posted in which is done in the forum its self. I think that's whats kind of throwing me off there.

If you are trying to make a category a forum though, I don't think that can be done after the initial selection has been made and saved. You can always just make a new forum though and move the topics/sub-forums to this new one then deleting the old category/forum.

A forum can not be changed into a topic. I am having trouble understanding the issue? Are you referring to the structure of the homepage?

Please post your forum's link.

@SLGray wrote:A forum can not be changed into a topic. I am having trouble understanding the issue? Are you referring to the structure of the homepage?

Please post your forum's link.

Please scroll down to "In Loving Memory" I need to move most of those names/Forums into the Topics area (which you will see when you click on the words "In Loving Memory"
I'm sorry SLGray I'm having a hard time explaining my goal to tidy up the homepage. Thanks for the help.

So basically you do not want to see the sub-forums on the homepage?

THANK YOU!
I don't see anything that refers to them as "Sub Forums", but yes that is what I'm talking about.
I need to move them without losing content off the homepage and into the Forum itself.
