In progress Disappearing accounts

Post by DinosaurTaco Fri 19 Jul - 23:36

Hi, I'm an admin on a forum and over the last few weeks some of our members accounts have randomly been deleted, with the e-mails I receive saying that they deleted them themselves, however they insist that they didn't.

Futhermore when we check the IP's used to delete the accounts it's the actual account of the member, is there a possible flaw in the coding? Or just a hacker with a proxy?

Do you have any other admins who could be doing this?

ACP --> Security --> Scroll down and you'll see admin logs.

Maybe another admin is doing this?

No, we've already checked, it's saying the member is deleting it themselves.

They might have done it via the unsubscribe link

https://www.forumotion.com/en/unscribe/

Other than that I don't know what to suggest.

Apparently if you do that they send a confirmation e-mail to the user to confirm it.

Yes they do.

I honestly don't know I haven't heard of any bug. Let's wait for someone else to comment.

Doesn't matter. It was just a hacker. Thanks though.

I'm a member of the forum he's talking about, so thought I'd answer and yeah members can unsubscribe from the forum.

One of the members who's account did get deleted, defiantly didn't delete his own and knew nothing about why/when it had gone until I spoke to him.

Could it be that someone used their accounts and logged on and unsubscribed?

That's what we thought could've happened some how, not sure how someone would've got the passwords to log in though. Is there a way to check anything like that?

What I mean is like a family member, a friend, or they logged onto the forum on a public computer and did not log off.

I asked and nope, there's no way that could've happened.

Was the forum restored (fully) to earlier date?
