In progress Our site has been Ripped Off

Post by Professor Cromwell on July 24th 2013, 6:13 pm

First of all, Hi.

I am Cromwell from a site called Legacies Reborn and I've came across a site that has basically taken all of our written rules and such for the purpose of using them for their own needs.

The Owner of that site used to be one of our members that wen inactive. She returned only to basically take our stuff and post it on her own site.

I shall give you proof.

This is a set of rules on our site posted on the 27th of Jun.
Spoiler:

This are the same rules we have but posted on the 17th of July.
Spoiler:

Here is another example of a rule made by yours truly.

Spoiler:

Links to the two sites in question:

What can we do now?

How do you deal with such people? Can forumotion delete their site for violating the TOS?

Alright, I did that. Not quite sure if I did it correctly.

Either way I do thank you for your help.

Do you perhaps know how long will it take them to process this and give us a decision?

This is really not a copyright infringement. Rules really can not be copyrighted.

So, there is nothing we can do?

They literally took all the hard work we put into writing those up and made it seem like nothing.

Its a role playing site, they took our rules, our registration templates, everything.

Edit: If you want I could provide screenshots of them copying other things, not just the rules.

We have different systems and templates for registration which they took as well. The only stuff they did not take are their graphics.

This is called re-posting. People take one thing from one site or forum and post them on another. Unless you have this officially copyrighted and can present offcial documention proving you own the rights to it, then there is nothing that can be done.

I mean it is not enough to be Plagiarism, Plus there is no copyright. not like anyone would even pay to get such a thing copyrighted. Like mentioned above you can report it to forumotion litigation. but i doubt they will take any actions. there is no real violation taking place.
Once again unless it is officially copyrighted and you own the rights thats the only way you would be able to do anything about it. Then forumotion would either warn them and tell them to remove it, or shut their forum down due to violations of copyright infringement.
