Solved Smileys not showing up properly

Post by Furious-Angel on July 26th 2013, 11:36 pm

When some of the users post smilies, sometimes they are not showing up as image, but as text, for example:
text before smiley:)

Problem is that no matter of space in front of smiley it somehow erases it which causes that smiley appears as text...

Any solutions on this issue? (except typing more spaces in front of smiley)

Could you post an example of the issue?

The issue in fact is with ForuMotions use of the SCEditor Settings. You can read on the emoticonCompat option here:

emoticonsCompat

emoticonsCompatBoolDefaults to

Code:
false

Enables or disables emoticons compatibility mode.
When this is enabled, emoticons must be surrounded by whitespace orEOLcharacters. For example, if you have an emoticon with the code

, in compatibility mode it will not replace the

in
Code:
http://
.

Compatibility mode currently has limited As You Type emoticon conversion support.EOLcharacters are not recognised as whitespace withAYTconversion so only emoticons surrounded by whitespace will be converted. This does not affect non-AYTconversion which will still work as normal.

Hope this helps you understanding what is going on. They have the emoticonCompat to true meaning the smiliey must be surrounded by whitespace

Ok, thank's for answers, but the problem is they are surrounded by whitespace and for some reason whitespace before smiley just vanishes...

Can I set emoticonsCompat to false somehow, perhaps via javascript or jquery?

You can try this, can't promise much. You can also check out the easyBB plugin I've created over at AvacWeb, very easy to use and gives some more options for you...

Code:
window.onload=function() {
$.sceditor.defaultOptions.emoticonsCompat=false;
};

It is open to the public, and I'll be updating this soon to add more features as well.

It won't override default setting but many thank's for the link. Smile
