In progress domain name change

Post by HBDforum July 31st 2013, 10:33 am

We've recently become administrators of a forum ran by our friend who has gone absent and left us in charge. Have also been informed of our ads being revoked and have updated it to be removed again. But we also have the issue to have accessibility to our domain name and have purchased credits to change it, but the option to change it does not exist in the domain name-change page in the admin panel. How can we come about doing that?

Only the founder can see those areas of the administration panel.

We own the founder account, which is how we bought credits in the first place.

If you are logging on with the founder account, you should see those areas.

It is because you already have a domain name.  When does it expire?

You can cancel the one you have now, then buy another.

Can you please tell me how to cancel? since I can't seem to have that option. I do not know when it expires as it does not state anywhere on the forum either.

Yes I found it now. Thank you very much. Do I now need to click "delete" and then when it deletes, I'd be able to change the domain name?

Yes press the delete button.  It might take sometime before the deletion process is finished.  You should be able to purchase the domain name now.  You will not be able to add the domain name until the other one is completely deleted.

I see. Is there a way for me to know whether my current domain name is associated to forummotion and owned by it or not? Also, when I request a domain change, can I already start informing my members of the new domain? I want to make sure it's reserved to our forum and cannot be taken by anyone else once I request the change through the admin panel.
