Problems with loging on

Post by bojidar4oto on August 14th 2013, 6:04 pm

Hello everyone!

Maybe this has already been answered - even so I didn't find it.
From time to time the users on my forum contact me by e-mail or PM from another user, telling me they can't log in. They get this error:
"You have specified an invalid or inactive username or incorrect password."
Since it happens periodically, only to people in my list with "Users with no messages", then that list could be the cause. Even so I can't reactivate those users, that have been deactivated. I have no idea why, nor I can disable this...feature.

It could be that they haven't accepted their activation email and therefore that's why they appear in that group.

Go to your admin panel=>users & groups=>users options, here's what the check off's should say :
1. New accounts activation: Whatever you want. No activation should mean they can post immediately. User means the user has to activate their account. Admin means an admin has to activate that persons account
2. Allow new members: yes

THEN: Admin Panel=>General=>Security

1. Unauthorize members with less than a week registration to post external links and emails: No

if that doesnt solve it then sorry i do not know :|

Try this

ACP --> Users and Groups --> User Options --> New accounts activation : Select No Activation

Nah, won't work, Renderer(one of my users) constantly gets this problem. I always manually activate his account, after I recreate it, so this couldn't be the cause.

It sounds to me that they are just getting there password and user name Wrong, Ask them if its ok for you to have there username and password sent to you by Email or in the contact me at the bottom of your forum if that is setup and then see if you can log on with there account.

If you find that you can not log in with that info then you know that there passwords and login info is wrong.

To then fix the problem just log in as founder and go to ACP and change there password's and send them An Email with the new updated info and ask them to log in and change the password back to some thing they will know.

If this don't work i will be more then happy to take a second look for you

No, sorry APE, this isn't the problem 'cause their passwords and usernames are correct.

EDIT:
Does anyone know how to disable "Users with no messages" list or reactivate users in this list?

ok to do that go to ACP Users & Groups Tab >> Users >> Handle users >>
Tick >> Deactivate >>

that have less than : 1 post
Then click on the generate the users list button,

Then to put them back again do the following
ok to do that go to ACP Users & Groups Tab >> Users >> Inactive Users tick all the names and save.

then your done
