Solved Styling problems with header and forum table

Post by Talk on September 2nd 2013, 3:02 pm

With my forum www.Dottel.biz under phpBB3 I have a few problems:

1. If I navigate through my forum, the forum title in the header has the correct font size with 31px, but on my entry homepage it appears much smaller.

2. The color #c0c0c0 for my title description gets ignored. Instead it appears in white.

3. I want to move the forum title and the forum description a little bit downwards. How can I do it?

4. How can I enlarge the forum width? The entry "98%" in the section "Pages structure" (ACP > Forum > Configuration) gets ignored.

5. The frame for my list of categories and forum on my entry homepage gets cut left and right. How can I make it visible completely?

6. How can I make the white space (with the search box on the right) between the navigation bar and the main section of my forum smaller (by reducing the height)?

7. The forum icons for topics and the uploaded topic icons overlap (as shown in the following picture). How can I correct this?

I added the following CSS code:

Code:
div#site-title h1{
font-size: 31px !important;
font-style: italic;
text-shadow: 5px 5px 5px #FF0000;
}

div#site-title {
font-size: 31px !important;
font-style: italic;
text-shadow: 5px 5px 5px #FF0000;
}

div#logo-desc  {
font-size: 15.5px;
text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px #FF0000;
color: #c0c0c0 !important;
}

Thank you!

I cut and pasted your code and replaced my old code.

Unfortunately no change has happened after.

Solved Re: Styling problems with header and forum table

Here my current CSS:

Now the color of the forum description should be black, but it's still white.

Here the font size of my forum title when I navigate through the forum (which appears correct):

Here the font size of my forum title when I'm on the start page (which appears still too small / no change):

Addition:

I found the solution for problem number 2 by using "#logo-desc p" instead of "#logo-desc":

Code:
  #logo-desc p {
  font-size: 17px;
  color: #000000 !important;
  margin-top: 35px;
  }
Now I can adjust the forum description; but I still can't adjust the forum title.

I am confused now. You said you found the solution to number 2, which one is number 2?

Solved Re: Styling problems with header and forum table

Post by Talk on September 3rd 2013, 12:00 pm

Problem number 2 from my initial post is this:
2. The color #c0c0c0 for my title description gets ignored. Instead it appears in white.
With "#logo-desc p" I can adjust the forum description like I want now. This problem is solved.

Problems 1 and 3 - 7 are still open.

PS: I expect problem 5 to be solved too when problem 4 is sovled.

4. The way the theme is designed will cause issues when you extend the width. I tried to use this theme once, and I could not figure out a way to extend the width without causing issues.

6. More likely that space is for the ads on your forum.

7. Add this to your CSS:
Code:
dl.icon dd.dterm{
    background-position: 75% 75%;
    }

Solved Re: Styling problems with header and forum table

Post by Talk on September 3rd 2013, 6:29 pm

After your answer I found out that I can go around the problem 4 by adding a third column.
Your answer explains problem 6. That's fine for me.
Your code for problem 7 works perfectly. Thank you for that.

Hence the problems 2 and 4 -7 are solved.
I expect problem 3 to be solved too when problem 1 is solved.

So only problem number 1 isn't solved yet:
1. If I navigate through my forum, the forum title in the header has the correct font size with 31px, but on my entry homepage it appears much smaller.

When I check the your forum, I do not see any CSS code that changes the font size to 31 px. All I see is this:
Code:
#site-title h1 {
      padding-top: 0px;
}

It should be:
Code:
#site-title h1 {
      padding-top: 0px;
      font-size: 31px;
}

This is the forum's basic CSS from the theme:

This is the code I added:

The code leads to a correct adjustment of my forum descriptions and of my forum title, but the latter only on all other pages expect the entry homepage (first site when my forum opens).

Add it to the top of the CSS stylesheet.
