Hello Buttercup! Very Happy

This problem applies in some forums, or most? Can you tell me what are the dimensions of the problem? I have not seen anything, but heard from other forums that have gone through it. Very Happy

Thanks for the warning!

Have can I stop newsletters being sent to Inactive members?

(without having to wade through hundreds of inactive members profiles and manually shut them off)

Also, I do not see an option to "Delay" newsletters.

Hello

I perfectly understand your issue. Unfortunatly, we don't have this option  Confused
However, you can do the following thing:

1-Copy/past the list of inactive users in a notepad ( Add Pa>> Users & Groups >> Handle users)
2-Create two groups of inactive users and active users ( Add Pa>> Users & groups >> Administrative group>> Create a group)
3-When you want to send a newsletter to all member expect inactive users, select the active users group.

I know it is not an optimal way but it is the only solution i think. beu

Solved Re: #479 Newsletter problems

Post by ScrapPlezier May 22nd 2014, 1:40 pm

Hallo,
I have sent yesterday a newsletter. The test message was sent. Then I sent that to the others too (to all users). It was a message stating that is was sent, but no one had received it.
I had then tried some more times. By the archived folder was no message sent yesterday.
But today, the newsletter (all of them) has been sent as of today.

Really annoying. I got user complaining about so many newsletters sent....

I donot know what is going on. What I would advise is do not send it again. just wait to see what happens. I have sent it yesterday 3 or 4 times because I thought it was not send. Then today users are getting that so many times.... :-(

Hi Buttercup

I understand it might not be immediate but it is not showing up at all that it has been sent! so basically you are in limbo, do you send it again or wait 24 hrs to see if it has gone through!

I have sent both, delayed and immediate NL.
Testes e-mails came immediately for both of them. It was a message stating messages were sent but no messages for members were sent at that moment (I have checked that).
Next day it was send 3 times.....
I did Not receive a validation email.

xxxxxThu 22 May - 18:04Admin Team
xxxxxThu 22 May - 17:58All members
xxxxxThu 22 May - 17:28All members
Above is part of what I sent yesterday (a further two never got to my history sent details)

The only validation email I received above was for the admin team 18:04 the first two nothing at all.

I then had all 3 come through around 3 hours later on my email account as in a email to the membership

I have been told just that a few of the membership have received nothing above

Hope this helps Buttercup and thanks for looking into it for us

Please read what Buttercup posted:
Buutercup wrote:Please note that newsletters, whether immediate or delayed, are not immmedialtly sent after the admin clicks on "sent". It is possible there is a gap between the scheduled sending date and the real arrival of the newsletter...

Indeed, to avoid a blacklisting of forums by email providers, we must create some waiting lists for each sever and we treat newsletters by block (according to the order of arrival).

Therefore, it is possible that the sending & the receipt of the newsletter be not instantaneous.

Thanks for this SL Gray....

It has been over 36 hours now and still the NL hasn't arrived at the recipients, what are we saying is a reasonable time factor on the waiting list before we can say there might be a issue with the NL system rather than the waiting list.

What I am trying to say is how long is it reasonable to wait for my NL to be sent from the waiting list (24,36,48, hours) before raising a issue over what might be a system failure in the first place with the sending of the NL

Your help in this matter is appreciated

Solved Re: #479 Newsletter problems

Post by richard liggins May 26th 2014, 11:01 am

Thanks for trying to help SLGray..

Right where I am now with the last NL sent out..

1. It was sent out over 48hrs ago

2. There is no history of it being sent in the "Savebox"

3. It was received by some of the Membership 38hrs after sending

4. I posted asking if those who received or not would post to that effect

5. Members who received it is around 80% of the Membership so 20% it is not getting through too, which on my forum is 200 Members a big proportion when a important NL has gone out.

Hopefully we can get to the bottom of what is going on

Many Thanks
