Solved Remove "Who Is Online" from Homepage

Post by inallsorts on September 30th 2013, 12:32 pm

Greetings everyone,

Is It possible to remove the "Who Is Online" (Inclusive of the Information beneath It), meaning this:
there is 41 users online :: 15 Registered, 1 Hidden and 25 Guests
Most users ever online was 123 on Sun 20 Jan 2013 - 19:51

But leave the "Statistics" at the bottom of the page Intact. I know who can remove both via the ACP, but I just want to remove the Online part of things.

All help Is much appreciated.
Thanks In advance.

Hi, add this to your CSS stylesheet for phpbb3:

AP>>Display>>Colors>>CSS Stylesheet tab>
Code:
a[href="/viewonline"] {
display: none;
}

Firstly, I appreciate your prompt response.

Unfortunately, the code didn't work.

Ok, I think you wanted all the online stuff removed anyway the code I posted just removes the "whos is online" link, so go to:

AP>>Display>>Generalities>>

On that page find "Display list of connected members during last 24* hours" and select "No" and save your settings.

Yeah, I've already applied that, which only removes the connected members during the last 24 hours. It doesn't remove this:

there is41 users online ::15 Registered, 1 Hidden and 25 Guests
Most users ever online was123 on Sun 20 Jan 2013 - 19:51

That's the part I wish to remove. I appreciate your help.

Hi SethC1995,

My forum version (Theme version) Is phpBB3, as viewed In the Display section of the ACP.

Is this what you're asking, or Is there another separate listing for the forum Itself?

Can you provide me a link to your forum so I may view your "who's online"? I've tested a formula however, it seems to differ per forum.

I think I know how to do what he wants in the AP.

Try going to:

AP>>Display>>Structure and hierarchy>>

On that page scroll down to the bottom of the page where you see "Hierarchy" and under that heading is "Display viewonline information box on index", tick the box "Never" and save your settings.

What horses provided is a surefire way to remove that information however, it will also remove the statistics which you wanted to keep.

Since its been sometime I will post two variants of the code I've setup.

Variant 1: this is for if your paragraph which holds the 'who is online?' content is even.
Code:
#main-content > p:nth-child(2n+10), a[href="/viewonline"]{
display:none;
}
If the code above does not work remove it and apply the code below.

Variant 2: this is for if your paragraph which holds the 'who is online?' content is odd.
Code:
#main-content > p:nth-child(3n+10), a[href="/viewonline"]{
display:none;
}
I've tested it on multiple boards and the 'Who is online?' range jumps anywhere from:

Even 10, 12, 14, 16 or Odd 10, 13, 16, 19

If the content provided above does not work then your only option would be to use what runawayhorses provided.

Go in Administration Panel -> module -> Javascript Management -> Create a new javascript , tick in all pages and name what you want .

Code:
$(document).ready(function(){
$('img#i_whosonline').next('p').addClass('p_who_is_on');
$('div.h3:contains("WHO IS ONLINE?")').addClass('a_who_is_on');
$('div.h3:contains("Statistics")').addClass('a_statistiq');
$('.a_statisticq').next('.page-bottom').addClass('p_statisticue');
$('.a_statistq').next('.page-bottom').next('.page-bottom').addClass('p_statistq');
$('v').next('.page-bottom').next('.page-bottom').next('.page-bottom').addClass('p_statistici');
$('.p_statistq:eq(0)').addClass('p-bottom');
$('.p_statistq:eq(1)').addClass('p-bottom');
$('.p_statistq:eq(2)').addClass('p-bottom');
$('.p-bottom').wrapAll('<div class="p_statistici_toate">');
});
After that , go in Administration Panel -> Display -> Colors -> CSS Stylesheet

Code:
.a_who_is_on , .p_who_is_on{display:none!important;}
