Solved An odd, blank banner/box at the top of my forum's page.

Post by Divine Ownage on October 7th 2013, 9:06 pm

So I noticed this... blank banner at the top of my forum, above the chatbox and below the announcements.  Up until now, I've been managing pretty well on my own, but I haven't a clue how to remove this banner nor if it even can be removed.  I don't recall seeing the banner before today; however, I haven't modified much on the forum in the past day: all I did was add a glow effect to certain ranks.

I would very much like to remove this banner.

Here is the link to my forum - http://divineownage.forumotion.com/

I don't have a "test account" prepared because I'm not entirely sure how to go about making a test account: will I have to register a new account under a different email and give it full rights?

Below is a screenshot of my forum, and I've noted where the banner is.

Thank you.

EDIT:

I looked back at my skin(s) from previous days, and I noticed this banner has always been there; nonetheless, if I can, I would really like to remove it or at least give it a function.

i do believe that is the section where the ads are displayed. since it looks like your running an ad blocker they dont show and the box is a result of you putting a background on your modules

I disabled my Adblocker and refreshed the page - I also opened a new window.  However, nothing changed: the box remains blank.

If it is an advertisement banner, can I move it to the bottom of my page?

EDIT:

I've just accessed my forum on Firefox, Explorer, and Chrome: there was no advertisement for either.

- Thank you for your reply.

i just checked your site  on my chrome and that is indeed where the adverts are. so  your adblocker must not be not fully disabled

as far as i know it cant be moved

That's all the ad blockers can do is just block the content where the ad would be, they can't remove the actual block where the ad would be displayed, so all is as it should be. I don't think you can move the ads either, but you can remove it altogether by paying to have your ads removed.

That's odd; I did have Adblocker disabled (I can see ads on other sites.)  So there is no way I can move the advertisement banner?  I've seen some sites with the advertisements on the side, positioned vertically.

Are you certain I can't move the advertisement banner somewhere else?  I don't want it to be the first thing my members see upon entering my forum.

Also, thank you very much for your help thus far.

I have adblock plus a firefox addon and I disabled it on your forum and I saw an advertisement in the block.

I am not 100% sure it can't be moved, however the reason its where it is because its the first thing people see, thats how they want it. But like I said you can pay to have it removed from your forum by purchasing credits from your admin panel.

I understand that, and I would donate to have it removed; however, I don't have a credit card nor do I have PayPal: I tend to buy redundant things.  So that's not much of an option at the time unless I get one of my counterparts to assist me in that department.

I appreciate your help, thank you.
