Long time, no update.

I plan on getting back to this forum, and of course working on some more goodies for all of you.. To get back into things I've decided to work on a few widgets, as well as cleaning up the forum, aaand working on another extended project. You can find the most recent topics below :

Today marks the start of the Beta Program which allows you to get early access to features, so that you can test them and provide feedback or bug reports. This beta program will go beyond the traditional public beta tests I've been holding, by giving you the option to connect your forum to the "Beta Channel" which allows you to receive notifications and automatic installations for ongoing tests.

1. Night Mode

4. Theme
The new theme is still a work in progress, but it will be ready soon. As such I'll allow you a sneak peek into the current progress I've made. I plan on going with a fairly flat design, but you'll be able to choose from many different colors. That way, you can browse in the color that suits YOU. The image below mostly demonstrates the theme color picker ; the final product may be different than what's shown.

Once the main layout and design is finished, the theme will be installed onto the forum, where phase 2 of development will begin.

1. Category Tabs
The "Category Tabs" plugin allows you to display your forum categories as tabs, therefore reducing the amount of space they take up. If you don't like needlessly scrolling through categories then this plugin is for you !

2. Alphabetical Search Bar for the Memberlist
This plugin installs a bar above the memberlist with a list of preset letters, so you can easily search members by the first letter in their name.

1. Post Cards
What are post cards ? Post cards display a brief summary about a linked post, so you can get an idea of who wrote the message and what they said without actually quoting the post. The cards are created by posting the direct link to a message, so no bbcode is required.

2. Starred Forums
This plugin allows you to "Star" forums. Starred forums are placed at the very top of the forum list, so you can easily access your favorite forums.

1. Groups widget
The groups widget allows you to see all the groups you belong to, as well as groups that you can join. It's handy if you don't feel like going to the groups page.

This plugin installs a simple theme changer onto the forum that changes the basic colors. The themes included are solid colors, so it's best used on graphically-light forums, or the default forum themes.

In other news I'll be halting production on plugins and tutorials for a little while so that I can focus on finishing up the new theme. 1. Image Resizer
This image resizer is meant to be an improvement over Forumotion's default resizer, by using CSS to resize the images and JavaScript to provide additional options. It'll resize the images much faster as it utilizes CSS to set height and width restrictions rather than JavaScript.

This plugin installs a small selector for the font size of the forum which allows you to adjust the size of the font to what you prefer.

Other News
I've been working on the new theme and making progress slowly. I still got a lot of work ahead of me, but if you want to follow the progress, I'll be making updates in reply to this tweet.

Here's some additional information on what I'm planning, which should answer some questions.
1. This theme ( or rather forum version ) will be 100% free and open source. So you can expect a GitHub repo.
2. I plan on making the theme responsive so that it can display properly on any device ; the goal is 1 theme for all devices.
3. Before release, a beta test will be performed to test the installer / updater + resolve bugs and take suggestions. So everyone who's subscribed to the beta program will be able to get early access.

Keep up the great job! You make forumotion forums better with your plugins Although i'm anxiously waiting on the new theme :

It's been AGES since my last update, but I'm happy to announce that Forumactif Edge will be releasing soon for Forumotion forums. I'm currently in the process of beta testing it both on my forum and github -- it's an open beta, so if you'd like to help test v1.0.0-beta, feel free to join up by reading the testing notes.

Very nice work Ange!

Long time no see everyone. It has been awhile since I released any new tutorials, but this week I took a brief break to work on some new goodies for everyone. I've released two recently for the mention system, and I'll be releasing another fun tool next week. Here's what's new !

Tutorials

Below are some of the recently released tutorials on the forum.

1. Auto-suggest @mentions as You Type
This plugin for the editor auto-suggests you usernames while you're typing a @handle ( mention ). Clicking the suggestions or pressing enter will automatically complete the @handle so you can save time typing ! Plus to make the mentioning system more user-friendly this plugin auto-inserts quotes, so you don't have to worry about failing to tag anyone ever again !


2. Nicknames for @Mentions
This is a silly little plugin that will allow your members to personalize their mention @handle with the nickname that they prefer, without having to change their username on the forum.
