Need Help
I recently Banned some Guy from my forum because he was trying to sell Illegal stuffs which was also against the forum rules. Right now I'm not Accepting new users anymore so it seems he can't register on the site again and has got him pissed. Therefore he keeps posting abuses to my forum on a daily basis. I will like to know if this can affect the forum even though the forum is not into anything against the rules..?
Re: Need Help
All you can is get some moderator, who will delete that, and ban his profile, e-mail and ip adress, and all from what he post... I can't see any other way, but you can wait if someone know.
Re: Need Help
Only the founder will see the abuses. If they are false abuses just move them to the done abuses.

Re: Need Help
This is incorrect, all administrators of a forum will be able to see the abuses.SLGray wrote:Only the founder will see the abuses. If they are false abuses just move them to the done abuses.
Ie, Sanket who is NOT the founder here can see abuses, and act on them the same as Buttercup, who is also not the founder, whilst both have the same options in the abuses section as The Godfather, whom is the founder.
To answer your question directly:
Having multiple abuses, or guest messages cannot affect the forum in any way.
If he has a static (The same) IP Address, I would recommend IP Banning him, however if he has a dynamic (or many) IP Addresses, then don't worry about trying to IP Ban him, simply because there's only a 1 in a gazillion chance that he will use that address again.

Re: Need Help
It seems the "Report an abuse" link is becoming an epidemic that we're hearing about all too often. It's being abused and causing distress to innocent people on a daily basis now it seems. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about to stop people from misusing it, other than as RadioHead suggested and ban the IP and hope they don't have the ability to change IP addresses such as with a proxy server, but that certainly doesn't put an end to the vulnerability your forum is in of other people misusing it.
That said, just bite the bullet and ignore the notifications and move them to the done abuses like SLG suggested.
You might like to cast your vote in the poll to give the forum founders the option to remove this "Report an abuse" link:
