Do you post videos with YouTube's "Embed Code" or do you use Text Editor?
Post Videos with YouTube's Embed Code or Text Editor?
I noticed last night that you no longer need to add http: to the youtube embed code to post videos correctly, apparently the forum technicians fixed it so all you need to do is copy the embed code and paste it in a post as it is, no more editing is needed. Of course you can still use the text editors youtube button and paste the url of the video page.
Also, when you use the text editor the post videos via the page url the "Full Screen" works now, when before videos would not go full screen when posted with the text editor. So it looks like the issues forumotion had with posting videos are over.
Take the poll to reflect which method you use to post YouTube videos, and post your reasons why, if you wish.
For me I use the embed code because I can adjust the size of the video before sending it, so there is no need to edit your post.

Re: Post Videos with YouTube's Embed Code or Text Editor?
I've always used the embed button provided by the editor to post a video. I've never thought about just pasting the video url, I'd ought to try that.
It seems the update has also resolved this issue

I use the text editor method, then to resize the video I edit the post.

lol, well if you look at the box when you click the youtube button on the editor is asks for the url, it means the page url as the embed code is not a url in the traditional sense, however the editors button will convert the embed code to its method.SethC1995 wrote:I've always used the embed button provided by the editor to post a video. The button originally would not accept an embed code, but I think after people kept putting the embed code into it and wondering why the videos wouldn't post the techs decided to make it convert the embed codes.
The editor button is good for people that don't have html enabled on their forum so they can simply paste the url of the youtube page into the button, or now the embed code as well. The button is an option for forums without html enabled. I've had html enabled on my forum from day 1, I can't image it without it enabled because of all the games posted, music players, video, etc.

Yeah I'm glad they did too!BlackScorpion wrote:I'm with you runaway, HTML since day one , couldn't run the Forum without it. I too use the embed code when posting youtube video, I'm glad they fixed it.
Actually posting the embed code is way more convenient than using the text editor button because you don't have to click anything first, you just paste the code in your post, end of story. On the other-hand with the "editor button" you have to first click the button, then paste the code or url into the little box, then click "Insert". That is a lot more hassle and steps to take than simply pasting the embed code in your post. Then to make matters worst using the editor you have to edit your post to adjust the SIZE of the video.
But you must have html enabled on your forum to have the luxury of pasting the embed code in your post.
In fact my members never have figured out how to use the button, they always paste the video embed code in their posts.
