Topic icon - none

Post by Ikerepc on November 15th 2013, 8:33 am

I have suggestion to add none and then icons for solved and completed (and in progress, important, pro admin for staffs).

That will be good because some new members, or if you do something fast can click icon, and then they must have icon, and staff thinks it is solved or whatever, this will help, if you click on some icon, you can fix it on just clicking none.

I don't think it's honestly something that is needed. A "none" icon would have to consist of an icon in the first place. If a member clicks on an icon then usually they'll edit there post or the staff will ask "Hi, you have this marked as solved, is this solved?"

I overall don't think this is needed and the forum has survived without it for so long so I'm not going to vote but I am gravitating towards no.

I think it is, I don't think on icon none, I think on nothing.

If somebody is open topic with solved, and get answer fast, staff can lock topic, and member maybe need something else.

And this will help staff. They don't need to ask on all topics is it solved if they see icon. Just lock (or/and archive).

Hello,

I don't quite understand your suggestion. Why add a "none" topic icon when members can just not use topic icons at all?

From what I can gather Base, its in the event a member accidentally clicks one of the icons as I believe once you click on one of the icons you cannot deselect it. So from what I can tell, Zyon is suggesting to add a topic icon to prevent someone having to either use complete/solved in the event they click on it.

Derri, I've just made a test topic on here and it allows me to deselect a topic icon.

This may be due to the fact that I'm a staff member, but I'm sure it allows you to deselect since it allows you to change it to solved?

Well I went into the support forum and went to create a topic and I clicked on the solved icon and then clicked on it again and it never let me deselect it. So maybe it could be a staff privilege as a part of moderating.

It did however, let me change between the complete and solved icons but it never deselect it.

In terms of my voting status though I'm not really sure adding a blank topic icon or something along those lines is needed.

Yes, members can't deselect that. If you have ok, but you are staff, members can't. Now I'm try (just click on new topic but it is same if I edit it) and I can't deselect that, and i really think we need to have that, some members see icons and think they need to choose one, and somebody do it because of mistake, but nobody can't remove it, and we need that option.

Zyon is correct members cannot deselect an icon once they select one. I think Zyon's suggestion a good idea however I think just the ability to deselect the icon would suffice. Many times I have asked a question and got the answer and marked the topic solved with the icon, only to find out later I had another question about that answer and needed to deselect the "solved" icon but couldn't.

I voted "Yes" because its obvious its needed.

By default the 'none' topic icon should be visible to members, as well as the solved icon. Since the complete icon was changed to Moderators only, this change had to be made to keep the ability of topic icons for members.
