A countdown timer for each post
I was wondering, I've searched the boards, but haven't found any. But I'm wondering if it would be possible to put a countdown timer button (Say next to WYSIWYG or the calander) where the user can insert his or her own countdown timer as well as putting how long it should last.
I know the generic response is "google it" but I'm wondering how do it put it in so that each post can place it up, and each post can have there own timers? With just a button or code like [timer]48 hours[/timer] so once the post is live, the time starts.
Thank you in advance

Of course anything is possible, but no such script exists, it would need to be specially designed just for your forum and would involve editing the text editor, so the generic answer is, it doesn't exist. Your best bet is to seek out a javascript expert that is willing to put in the time to create one for you.

Possible, yes, but it'd require an external server to store the same date for everyone.
I could theoretically write that for you, but it's time consuming for me to pay attention to every possible date format, so don't expect anything soon, while I also have exams I need to take care of.

Re: A countdown timer for each post
Is it possible to just have it based off the site's time, and have something like
At 3:13 Mr. Genius posted his genius post, places countdown button
48 hours from 3:13 is 3:13 in two days blah blah blah?

It's not that simple, sadly.Mamoru wrote:Is it possible to just have it based off the site's time, and have something like

With JavaScript, all I could do is replace the value of your editor's content, so that it posts what you want.
If you want there to be a new BBCode that does that, then you'd have to be able to parse the content of your posts on the server, which you cannot.
So, I'm sorry to tell you, but you cannot "simply" do that. Such a shame that we cannot use PHP...
