Your forum chatbox can do all those things by default, with the exception of showing avatar, which can be done with javascript. The "shoutbox" you speak of is not a forumotion chatbox you should contact "shoutmix" for support using that.

It's done with the so-called USERNAME code. By typing in "{ USERNAME }" (without the spaces between the brackets and without quotes) it will display the currently viewing user -- you, in that case. It displays "Guest" for users that are not logged in.

As to your problem, everything could be done, but you're better off loading a whole new chatbox with a widget rather than loading a lot of JS on top of the already messy JS forumotion supplies us with.
