is there a way to stop people creating usernames with * in the name when posting as a guest

I have one person who keeps posting in a guest section and each time I add another variation of her name to teh word censor she adds more stars to it. I cannot just add * to the word censor as it requires a 3 letter name.
If it is not possible to add just * to the username censor then is it possible to change the number of letters required for a username.

does * not work as a wildcard under the username censor?

only way i can think f a way around that is only to allow letters a-z and A-Z and numbers 0-9, and not allow other characters in usernames, I thought this was available on phbb3, I know that this would have to be an option selected by the admin of the forum, as other languages do use special characters, I often use the Ø in some of my usernames on forums, but it would be nice if you could have an admin created list to allow some and not other characters.
