Lock a topic so it doesn't count towards members post count

Post by Guest on February 23rd 2008, 5:31 pm

First topic message reminder :

I've seen this feature on smf forums.
It should be able to be implemented on phpbb.

I'm talking about the pro and con attitude.
Does it matter when a member has a postcount that is high or low?

We are talking about postcounts here and seriously they cost you nothing at the end of the month, think about it Smile
It does if your site operates a rank system as members by multi posting in a junk post can quickly go up the ranks without actually taking part in the forum.

Why put up a rank system and complain about postcounts?
See what I mean Wink

I know this is an older post- but I want to reply Very Happy I have post ranks so that users can earn free stuff- like a gift card. The more they participate with "Useful" posts- the post count goes up- giving them a better oppurtunity to "Win" the reward. For instance- I wanted the first member who reached 500 posts to win a gift certificate- but he got there by all the "lol", "cool", and "no way man" posts So that's why I need it Very Happy

Yes!! I would want this. I could make it so the spammers won't get anything from it on specific forums! Good Idea!

This would be useful on every Forumotion forum that I've been on, seeing as they all have a Random, Off-topic, Spam, etc. board. I hope this gets implemented, and soon.

Yes, this is exactly what my forums needs, to many people are just posting things like "lol" "yeah" and stuff like that to make their post count go up. I vote yes!

If you can make forums AND categories, it's right what I was looking for. Finally getting rid of all those game and chat spammers!

This feature should be standard.

Then again a lot of things this place doesn't have are standard in forum scripts.

i think this will be a good thing to have i have a everything else forum and this is really only for sam and crap
i think that you sould have a thing where you can add a no count to what ever forum you like to stop the spam counting on your posts
and a way of taking the posts off if you close and delete a post

Is this suggestion in the could be section or the maybe section?
It would be nice for a technician to post on some of the suggestions to let us the members (who ultimately pay their wages) know what is happening. Idea

A round and sound YES for this. I have a spamboard called Troll'sCave (go figure) and believe it could be abused. It's a gameboard, I'm not going to be the one to lock topics there :<

PLEASE, make it a feature.
