In progress why is my forum banned?!

Post by sanja on December 24th 2013, 12:04 pm

In the middle of the conversation with my friend, the link to my forum took me to some strange page:

adf.ly
(that's the site's name)

I tryed to get to my forum several more times, but the link always led me to that "adf.ly".
The last time, I've got this info:

Onlineguardian has banned " komsiluk.forumotion.com " hosted on forumotion.com due to the violation of terms of services.

Wtf?
Our forum is small, and only a few friends gather there to talk.
What kind of violation could we possibly make?

Your forum's not banned Sanja. It's online now and you're online on it.

I had the same weird experience. I first contested it with that form that that 'online guardian' presents. But only when I reset my favourites' adress to my forum I was allowed back in again (Im an admin there) and so was another member.. so things by now seem to be normal again.
Looks like a weird ad.fly.onlineguardian hijack..
Can someone from forumotion please look into this and explain ?

Greetings

@Nera:
I asked some of the moderators.

Yes, now it's working, but I am still worried about what happened.

(because we have a nice archive of stories on that forum I would not want to lose)

Since I still have "onlineguardian" opened in the other window, here is what happened in pictures:

and this is where link to my forum led me:

One more time, the address was the address of my forum, but what I got was the pic of the above.

They should be written by you not taken from net.

It was a bug probably cause you would not get it back so quickly. If you want an official explanation you need to wait up a day or two cause I think no one from the pro staff works now.
There seems to be nothing illegal on your forum unless you have hidden sections on it, like books sharing, +18 pics etc.
Wait for Buttercup a day or two. That would be the best.

Hello,

This is a very odd problem that I've never encountered before. Forums are only banned by Onlineguardian if they violate our terms of service in some way. If your forum doesn't violate our TOS then it should be fine. This was most likely an error. :/

Buttercup is currently away right now but as stated above we can wait for her response on this matter.

What does this sentence even mean?

I'm a writer, so they are probably written by me. Most of them. Others are written by other people on forum.
And yes, stories are in hidden section.
So what?

Thank you.
it has to be an error, because there is nothing there that could violate anything.  scratch

My forum too is after that glitch still up and running properly.
Must have been a weird error at ad.fly (which is an absolute drag any ways) and/or online guardian

I found o.g.'s spot on the web (http://www.onlineguardian.net/) and entering my forum's address for a status check yielded no results (i.e. it stated "your forum is not in our database/not banned")

So yah, bit of a needless scare by adfly and online guardian (two of the most annoying, inconsiderate entities on the net i.m.o)

All's well that ends well I suppose..
