Background image has disappeared.

Post by cookiemonster395 on December 31st 2013, 3:15 am

The background image of the forum seems to have suddenly disappeared.

I have tried to re-upload the image, but to no avail. I tried using an url rather than an upload from my computer to load the image...still nothing.

I have even tried re-syncing the forum to see if that helps as I can't find a reason for this simply not appearing, but again. It hasn't worked either.

Just to add that when switching between forums the background does show up in brief, only to disappear again once the page loads.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello ,

Is this the background image that is not appearing ?

Try clearing your browser cache to see if that resolves the issue.

It is Ange... I'm confused.

How is you're seeing it? I've cleared all data and cookies but still seeing nothing?

It could be your browser, as I said you should try clearing your cache to see if it resolves the issue.

If you're using Firefox :
History > Clear recent history > tick cache and click 'clear now'

It is not happening for me, weird. try applying the background by CSS to see if it still occurs :
Administration Panel > Display > Pictures and colors > Colors > Css stylesheet
Code:
body { background:url('http://i11.servimg.com/u/f11/13/47/77/05/image11.jpg') !important; }

Add the code to the top of your CSS stylesheet.

Is your browser up to date?

I also do not see a background image.

This may be totally pointless, but, I wanted to help and so.. I thought I'd mention it. But, I also cannot see the background image and I'm using Google Chrome. My cache is cleared and my browser is updated. I hope that it's sorted soon, Cookiemonster! Smile

Remove this from your CSS :
Code:
Body{background:url(http://i11.servimg.com/u/f1/13/47/77/05/image11.jpg)!important}

Already tried adding code to the top

Yes, my browser is up to date.

Thank you SLGray. It helps to know I'm not alone.

Tried this too Ange but again to no avail.....

Thanks to all for your input, I've tried just about everything but nothing seems to work. I do really appreciate the help given though.

Thank you for your time last night SLGray.

I've again asked for our members responses and the problem is becoming very apparent that its those of us using Safari that are 'all' unable to see the background - seeHERE

The thread is now visible to guests.

Is the viewing of the background option for users of Safari something that can be resolved SLGray?

Are you finished with the test account or do you think you'll need further access?

I am finished with the test account. You might what to keep it and use it to check your forum.

I really do not know enough about Safari to give a solution. From the topic, I get the impression that it is Safari on mobile devices and tablets.

Yes, that's correct SLGray.

Is there someone on your technical team with any knowledge in this area? I'm having quite a few issues that affect our Safari users and would be grateful for their help.

Are the members using the mobile or classic version when they do not see the background?

Hello,

I would like you to try and change the image. Currently it is JPEG, we can see if safari supports GIF images as a background.

AP > Display > Pics management > Advanced > Change the background image with the one below :
http://i57.servimg.com/u/f57/18/21/41/30/image110.gif

Also make sure you do not have any CSS which change the background image.

The background isn't a visible option the mobile version.

Its the classic version we encourage all of our members to use. Its the classic version I use myself.
