Solved Unwelcome and unexplained pm on my forum

Post by Castellana on January 10th 2014, 4:47 pm

Hello
This morning, someone using the name of "Guest" sent me a pm on my forum. I am the Admin so I guess that is why he sent it to me. I have not asked other members if they got such a pm.

Here is how it looks:

Notice that the name "Guest" is in ordinary black, which is not one of the colors we use for members. "Guest" does not show up as having registered, either on the forum or in the ACP.

Here is my question: how was "Guest" able to send me that pm?

My forum is: http://cvas.forumotion.com/
phpBB2

Please explain how this happened and if I need to be concerned.

Thanks!

The key to knowing where this came from is in the Subject where it says [Contact]

This means that it came from the Contact form on your site located here. If you look at the footer of your forum, you'll notice the "Contact" link. That's where it came from.

The PM you received was from someone who used the 'contact' link in the footer of your forum.
