Solved Invision problems

Post by GM B-Body Forum on January 20th 2014, 5:37 pm

Hi there, im having some problems after switching my version from phpbb3 to invision. One main problem is the member contact field. When you click on their name the contact box does show up where it should, it shows up at the top of the page. And the font color, you cant see some things, and ive tried changing the colors with no success. Maybe this needs to go in the "need a technician" topic Those are the two main problems im having. One last question, why am i not able to edit the nav bar, i can add to it, but cant edit the existing links like home, profile, calendar, etc Any help would be awesome, thanks

Hello,

Try adding this CSS to your stylesheet to see if it fixes the profile drop down.
Administration Panel > Display > Pictures and colors > Colors > CSS stylesheet

Code:
.post { position:relative !important; }

Just place it at either the top or bottom of your stylesheet and click submit when you're done.

Yes, I had thought it was that problem. The reason for this is the drop down is absolutely positioned (takes up no space and is dependent on the window size). For it to stay with its parent(message in this case) it needs to be relatively positioned.

I am unsure of why this happens for most invision boards. scratch

The CSS I provided should work in most cases, but yours might be different.

Please try not to double post. ( see the rules )

That is good that you fixed that. Wink

Also for the existing links, the only thing you can really edit is the image for them.
Administration Panel > Display > Pictures and colors > Pics management > Advanced > General / navigation

Look for the images which correspond to a navlink and change its image.

You can also use CSS to change the name of a link. For example :

Depending if your forum is the homepage this CSS would change the texts HOME => FORUMPAGE
Code:
a.mainmenu[href="/"] { font-size:0 !important; }
a.mainmenu[href="/"]:after {
font-size:12px;
content:"Forumpage";
}

You may also need to add similar properties to the after if you have additional hover styles. Example of hover after :
Code:
a.mainmenu[href="/"]:hover:after { background:blue; }
