In progress Problem Regarding Founder

Post by GiggityGopher on January 22nd 2014, 5:43 am

I was going to make a post about this in the topic EEYEN made, but it was locked, so I'm sorry for starting a new topic about it.

Basically, the problem is that the founder of our site, XWA-Universe, left. We need a new founder so we can update the domain when our current one runs out. So we talked to you guys here and you told us that if the founder is gone for 6 months and 1 day, we can make a claim for a new founder.

Now, the problem here is that our former founder is being a complete...Well, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to curse here or not, but you can probably guess where I'm going with this. He was informed of this and now he says he's gonna sign on to the site, simply to reset the 6 months. I feel like if he's gonna do that now, he's probably gonna continue signing on once every months or so just so we can't get a new founder. Anything we can do?

I can vouch for this as I am the one he told this to.
He has some petty anger towards us as he still has bitter feelings and he pretty much openly told me that he plans to return near the end of the 6 months so that we can't get the account and the domain expires (it will expire in August and according to the thread, the founder account can become ours in June.) He's pretty much just blatantly attempting to screw us over out of his petty anger.
He wants us to restart the entire site, recreate all the things we've done, recreate all the forums, recreate pretty much the entire thing, despite the fact that he did NOTHING outside of actually creating the forum before he quit. Someone else on the admin team paid for the domain, not him. Us other admins are the ones that are actually doing all the work to keep the forum afloat, not him. He left after a ridiculous argument and now he is intent on continuing to mess with us as much as he can. Please tell me there's something we can do about this.

Sorry, but the founder has the right to do whatever he/she wants with his/hers forum. Forumotion will only get involved if the founder has been gone for 6 months and 1 day.

So, there's absolutely nothing we can do? Great. Looks like we're starting from scratch if Leo decides to go through with it. -__-

Well, thanks anyway.

So there's no other appeal whatsoever?
I mean, technically he's not the "founder", he just created the forum when we shifted here from FreeForums. We made a mistake in letting him make it. But we really don't want to have to recreate all the hard work we've already put into the forum.

If he has the founder account information, then he is the founder.

What if every single admin on the forum vouches for it?

Or I post the screenshot of him blatantly saying he's going to log in JUST to ruin it for us cause he wants to get back at us for arguing with him?

What if the admins pay money for it?

What if he logs in and leaves the next day, can that not count as him returning?

There has to be SOMETHING we can do. It makes no logical sense for us to just sit here, pay money for the domain, only to get screwed over. >_>

Hello,

Unfortunately, if that's the case, the founder is still considered to be active, and therefore we can't do anything about it, however, if you would like to provide a proof to such, you can post it through a screenshot, and we will see what our pro admin will decide about the matter.

EDIT:
However, as we said, a founder can do whatever he wants on his forum at his own risk.

Well, if it will help at all, then yes I'd like to do that. Is the head admin here "The Godfather"?
And does he accept PMs? I'd like to talk about it with him. I really really really don't want to have to start over again, but that seems like our only option. I'd like to talk to the head admin about it just to see what options we may have.

Yes, he is the head admin here, however, he is often busy with management and technical issues, so we can't send the request to him, however, we do have a pro administrator(Buttercup) who deals with this issues.

Where would you like to send the proof/screenshot? Either post it on this thread or by PM(you can send it to me), then I will forward this thread to her to answer on the issue.

Thank you. I highly appreciate that. Seeing as it's going to be a series of screenshots as it happened through text messages and my phone is a bit slow, I will send them to you tomorrow. Thank you once again, I thoroughly appreciate it.

No problem. Wink Though, I can't promise that your request will be granted by the officials as the decision is theirs, I will only be here to try to help as much as I can. I hope you understand.

Good day Smile
