In progress Domain Name Change

Post by PublikNMEno1 on January 29th 2014, 12:51 am

I currently have 58 days left on my custom domain name. Can I change it now (don't mind paying) or do I have to wait for it to expire?

If it is possible what is the best way of going about doing this, without the forum going down for any real length of time?

Thanks

Hi,

You should have the option of deleting the domain. However, your forum won't go down or whatsoever, it'll just go back to it's old URL (free) which would be something similar to .forumotion.com or whatever yo choose. You are able to view that from this following steps: ACP >> General >> Forum Address.

Regards,
Sir Chivas.

Attention!
- Please provide your forum URL at all times.

Once the domain name is deleted you can re-purchase said domain name from FM.

Ok so I went where i was supposed to but only got a renewal option. So I thought that I'd renew then delete but now is says that it's in process. How long will this take?

Can someone please help as I'm desperate to get the custom Domain name changed?

I'm having real trouble deleting the custom domain.

I've followed the steps above but the option is not there.

All I get is this message.

You can at any time remove your custom domain name (by request on support forum) and return to your original web address: http://gearsinfo.niceboard.org

You cannot renew your domain name for the moment....Your original domain name is http://gearsinfo.niceboard.org.

Was your domain name about to expire?

It can take up to 72 hours before the process for a domain name to be active.

You do know that changing domain names are not good for search engine rankings.
