Pro Admin #772 Mobile version doesn't work

Post by Fairly OddPapiDimmi on February 21st 2014, 11:56 pm

First topic message reminder :

Topic made into an only topic.  Please post in this only topic if you are having the similar issue.

I'm on my iPad Mini. When I go to a forum, like this forum, my forum, all Forumotion forums, I come to the mobile version of the site. When I click the little arrow, then «Classic version», it just redirects me to a site named «Free». This site is the forum URL, but it adds /undefined to the end of the URL. The only thing on the page is «You can return to the index...», and if I click on that link, it takes me back to the mobile site again.

I can't log in either. The same thing happens when I click the little arrow, then «Log in».

I can solve this problem by going to the Google Chrome browser on my iPad Mini and go to a forum, then click «Request Desktop version», which is an option included in Google Chrome Mobile, and I can also download the Puffin web browser, but I wanna use Safari.
Also, I'm not sure if others have this problem, but I don't think so, since it happens with EVERY Forumotion forum for me.

Please help me! This happened after I clicked «Delete forum cookies!» on MY forum, but I don't know why the heck it affects other Forumotion forums.

I've tried adding the Javascript code that disables the mobile sites and makes you instantly redirect to the desktop site, but it doesn't work now, but it worked before. And yes, I've ticked «Yes», and YES, I've saved.

I've also tried to backup my forum to the day it worked, but that didn't work at all!
I can't access the admin panel, I can't log in, and not only on MY forum, but I can't access the desktop site on ANY forum, and I can't login on ANY forum... I need to use Chrome and click «Request Desktop site»... Please help!

Please, please, PLEASE help me as soon as possible!

Thanks.

My members are still having trouble opening up my forum on their iPads.  They get a message saying the forum doesn't exist. My site is http://neotoa.forumotion.com/.  Please help.

Hello

Do you have the problem only by using Apple tools?
Thanks for providing as much information as possible. Smile

It so far has not worked on an iPad and iPhone. I am not sure of other platforms, but these are the ones that my members have told me about. The link sends mad to my forum but says "this board has no forums". Thank you for the help. Let me know if you need any more info

Hello

That is no a bug. Infact, you disallow visitors to see any part of your forum (without being log in).

By consequences, on the mobile version you cannot access your forum.

You should let at least one sub-forum visible to everyone and it'll work Smile

At the very bottom of your forum, below the footer there should be an option to switch to the mobile version. If your device is not recognized as mobile it may not display.

you can get the desktop and mobile versions to toggle by adding

/mobile? to the end of your url

i.e
myforum.forumotion.co.uk/mobile?

however there is no classic view button on the mobile version and no way to get to the login screen either.
although you can also get round that by replacing /mobile? with /login?
but that is not a very elegant solution.

why have the relevant buttons disappeared.

can you edit how the mobile view displays?????

this has been a problem for some months now, how long does it take to get fixed.

A few hours ago, all of my iPad members lost the top black bar, Forum header and forum navigation bar.

I will advise them of the /login? option, but clearly there is a serious problem with the software if iPads can no longer be used.

my members cant see it on ipads and other mobile systems. I have a samsung tablet and it doesn't work on that either. Most people seem to use the classic view as it is less hassle, although can be hard to use on a small screen

Good Afternoon,
I have created a forum: www.vahl.forumotion.com which isn't allowing my members to view the forum on their mobile devices.....I tried viewing it using my Samsung Galaxy S4 and Ipad and it shows, once you are on a thread, a very dark back round barely allowing you to see and read the information within the thread.  Can anyone help so that I can share with my members? Hope to hear from someone soon.
