Downloaded template

I downloaded a template but don't know how to install it on a forum please help

Well, for one, access your admin panel < Display < Click on "General" in Template

See if there's a message that says you cannot edit it and if it does appear, then I'm afraid you have to change forum version for the template to work.

Note 1: Not ALL templates are supported by Forumotion forums.
Note 2: You will lose all your CSS codes and modifications in some other areas if you change versions.

I can't do that.
It is a file sitting on my desktop. And I don't know how to upload it at all.

Try copy pasting the code from the file and put it in a [code] BBC format .

Anyway, did you check your administration panel IN your FORUM about the whole template thing?

I'm afraid to say that you won't be able to use the template you downloaded because as I said above, ONLY punbb users and phpbb2 users are able to access and modify their templates :l.

How do I change it?

Please follow this instruction carefully to avoid confusion.

First off, can you copy paste the code of the template you downloaded to see if it is valid for forumotion? You can upload it in MediaFire or you can link me to the site you downloaded it from so we can check if it's valid.

Next.

If we find out it's valid, please to your administration panel < display < skins < choose a theme < version < change it to phpbb2 < save

And now, once you find out what the template is for, please modify any part of the template that is actually necessary to be modified by the one you downloaded.

If you're confused on what I just said, please just link me to the site/mediafire you downloaded the template from first.

Is this only one file, or multiple ? If it is only one, what is its extension ? i.e. .txt, .bbtheme, .zip, ect..

Most of those files there may not be compatible with forumotion forums. The CSS and images, maybe.

It is recommended to install skins from : http://en.hitskin.com/
