Solved How to configure an alternate login/registration page?

Post by troyeccles on March 12th 2014, 10:44 pm

Hello!

I've just logged out of my forum to see what it looks like as a non-member. While you can still see most stuff, there are pages that are for registered users only.

It's set up so that if you click on a link that requires registration, it takes you to the login page. But...

Is it possible to have a more user-friendly "you need to be logged in to see this part of the forum" message or similar rather than just a login box?

Thanks.

Troy.

What exactly do you want on that page?

I'd like it that when a non-registered user clicks on a link that he does not have privilege to, that it redirects to a page that says something like:

"Hello and welcome to our site. The page you are trying to read is for registered members only.
We'd love to have you on board so please take a minute or two to register"

And then maybe a link that says "Register" and "Not now, thanks"

Something like that.

At the moment it just goes to the basic login page and may cause confusion.

Thank you for your fast reply! Very Happy

I have not seen any way to change it.

Hi Very Happy

I tried via template editing since you're running phpBB2 but I do not see any welcoming messages affected in it :/ . It's either going to be modified via Javascript or there is no possible way at all, sorry.
