Solved privacy settings on servimg

Post by fionnghal on March 15th 2014, 11:24 am

Hi. Can you tell me if there is any way of setting better privacy on your servimg account? I have logged into my account but can't find any way of doing so. What I'm trying to do is set it so that my images can't be seen by the public. It appears the public can get access through google search, first by finding the image on my forum post (internet Bonsai Club) and then by clicking on the image which takes them to the servimg site. Is it actually possible to set privacy on servimg so that the second part of that can't happen?

If you have the images on your forum, then they are open to the public. What exactly are you trying to do?

One of my forum members got a bit upset because someone was able to obtain an image he'd posted on the forum but had got it through servimg. I wasn't aware that a google search would be able to access servimg accounts.

Or is it that the "thief" got it through clicking on the forum image which would have a servimg url.

In either case, can you make a servimg account "private" in any way?

Servming can only be accessed if you have your founder's account from your forum. You need your email and pass during the forum creation.

Is it the case that when a forum member uploads their first image to the forum, an account is created in their name? I am not the founder of the Internet Bonsai Forum but I have a servimg account.

When you upload, there is no account created. Any image uploaded from the forum to Servimg, will be added to the image list.

Has that always been the case? Just wondering how I ended up with an account in my name and with my own password. Can you "jin" servimg in the same way as you'd join something l
ike Flickr?

So this member uploaded an image by using the host an image button in the editor?

Yes. And somehow someone was able to locate it in a google search and copy it. But they say they got it from servimg. Surely that means it must be another member of the forum as only they would be able to access the file from servimg?

The best solution would be to delete the image from servimg and upload it to an image host site that the member has an account with.
