Solved How to remove Google Ads?

Post by PublikNMEno1 on March 19th 2014, 8:05 pm

Hi could someone please help me?

I would like to remove the Google ads from the top of my page. I've paid to remove the other set of ads for members but can't figure out how I get rid of these.

The previous Admin installed them.

My forum is www.gearsofwarfans.com

Do you mean the other administrator added his own ads?

Try this
ACP>Display>Templates(left hand side)>General (under templates)

Set the option to force default templates to yes and see if that fixes your problem

Thank you for the response but that option is blanked out and I can't change it.

I can't contact the old Admin and I had to go through the 6 month absence period to get control of the forum. I've been managing pretty well until this. lol

Hello

ACP > Display Tab

Do you have something else than 0 or nothing in the line I put in red in my screenshot ?

If this is a 0, you should check there
ACP > Modules > Javascript management

So you do not have any modified templates.

What about javascript ?
ACP > Modules > Javascript management
If you tick no on that page, do you still have ads ??

Ok so I've run into another problem. My text box (like the one I'm typing in now) changes to a plain smaller box with no toolbar when I use my modified template. How can I get around this?

If you used anything to remove the ads without using credits, you are breaking Forumotion's Terms of Services. Are you should that the ads are not Forumotion's ads.

So you used credits to remove the ads?

Administration Panel > Misc. > Credits Management > Spend Credits
Remove Ads

Yes I paid for it that way through Paypal. It has removed some ads for my members but the set in question still remain. Buttercup told me that they were ads belonging to my forum, so the previous Founder must have put them there.

Hello,

@PublikNMEno1 wrote:Hi guys I did a bit of playing around in the templates and have cracked it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Much appreciated. Smile
I suggest you to just delete  Delete  the templates modified rather than checking the whole codes, it might be messed up. Note that deleting  Delete  the modified templates will revert it to the original/default codes.

As I've suggested above, try deleting the modified templates  Delete , it might be the modified templates that's causing this problems.

Hi, thanks but that doesn't actually solve the problem.

At the moment I'm using the defaults with the ads, but ideally I need the ads gone and the toolbar textbox.

I think those are not ADS that the other administrator puted them, those are forumotion ads, the same ads the appear to be in my forum and I haven't paid to get rid of them ?

You can delete account "usertest" Wink

You should check you have not undesired content here :

Hello,

Can we ask if the ads are still there? We may need a technician intervention here. Thanks.
