Solved Advertisement abuse? Weird white pictures spamming my forum.

Post by ShadowQuest2000 on April 12th 2014, 6:29 am

I have a problem on my friends site, which I'm an admin to. When I logged into it today to add some forums I noticed that none of the ads came up where they should. Instead I got a background of weird white pictures saying that I have used up my bandwidth from photobucket. I've seen an ad before on another site of mine saying the same thing except it was an ad and it went away after refreshing. But this time on this site its everywhere! And Im pretty sure that these forums have unlimited bandwidth. Anyhow here's the site http://oceanakingdom.forumotion.com

I'm uncertain if you can see it or if I'm even putting this in the right area. If I don't make any sense please let me know and I will try to clarify. And if you have any way to fix this please let me know.

We have both changed our passwords and the site has not been hacked.
(On the site my user is Sony and My friend is Admin[aka Zyll])

Hello ShadowQuest2000,

This means that a users photobucket account has used up their free bandwidth. Photobucket is not a part of Forumotion; it is an image hosting site. You'll just have to remove or replace the images that are linked to photobucket :
Administration panel > display > pics management > advanced

Look through each tab and remove/replace the images that have exceeded their bandwidth limit.

Administration panel > display > colors > CSS stylesheet

Search for photobucket and find the dead links

To remove the image URL from a rule, simply delete this part :
Code:
url(/myimage.gif)

I did not find anything like that… Could it be an ad gone crazy?

Hello,

It could be the theme that you're using, the theme creator may have uploaded his images on photobucket. It is advisable that you find the code provided by Ange Tuteur on the CSS or change the theme you're using.

It has to be in your CSS, or pics management. This will only show if there are photobucket images on your forum.

ex :
http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/a1/barpol.png

These are the following rules I've found in your CSS that contains a photobucket image :
Code:
blockquote {
background:#1a1a1a url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/a1/quotecopy.png) 6px 8px no-repeat;
border:1px solid #DBDBCE;
font-size:.95em;
margin:1em 1px 1em 25px;
overflow:hidden;
padding:5px
}

Code:
.forabg {
background-color:#393939;
background-image:url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/topbar.png);
background-position:0 0;
background-repeat:repeat-x;
border:0 solid #101010;
clear:both;
height:1%;
margin-bottom:10px;
padding:0
}

Code:
.forumbg {
background-color:#393939;
background-image:url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/topbar.png);
background-position:0 0;
background-repeat:repeat-x;
border:0 solid #101010;
clear:both;
height:1%;
margin-bottom:0;
padding:0
}

Code:
.panel {
background-color:#393939;
background-image:url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/a1/barpol.png);
background-repeat:repeat-x;
border:1px solid #333;
color:#fffff4;
height:1%;
margin-bottom:4px;
padding:0 10px
}

Code:
table.forumline {
background-color:#131313;
background-image:url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/a1/maintitle.jpg);
background-position:0 0;
background-repeat:repeat-x;
font-size:1.2em;
padding:5px
}

Code:
#cp-main span.corners-top {
background-image:url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/a1/corners_left-3.gif)
}
#cp-main span.corners-top span {
background-image:url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/a1/corners_right-3.gif)
}
#cp-main span.corners-bottom {
background-image:url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/a1/corners_left-3.gif)
}
#cp-main span.corners-bottom span {
background-image:url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/a1/corners_right-3.gif)
}
#cp-main .panel #topicreview span.corners-top {
background-image:url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/a1/corners_left-3.gif)
}
#cp-main .panel #topicreview span.corners-top span {
background-image:url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/a1/corners_right-3.gif)
}
#cp-main .panel #topicreview span.corners-bottom {
background-image:url(http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/a1/corners_left-3.gif)

Is there anything I can do to reset the ad stuff? While I was on the site just now trying to find that photobucket stuff I deleted this: url('http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z301/lastfmbadges/topbar.png')

then went to check if that white stuff went away and it didn't but then the ad thing started to glitch and go all over the place, It was so glitchy it could give someone a seizure o.o. I finally exited from the tab and I'm uncertain of going back there. I need to go to bed though and I will check in the morning along with change the theme with the admin, but I don't know if the ad will still glitch o.o.

(*The noob part of me speaks again*)

Well it seems that the problem is coming from Photobucket and the only way to get rid of it is like Ange suggested, to remove the codes mentioned. However, you can try re-installing the theme to your forum, and one solution is to change your forum theme completely.
