Solved Homesafe Problem

Post by Pizza Boi April 23rd 2014, 5:18 pm

Hi Very Happy

Someone wants to register in my forum but cannot because of 'Homesafe' during the time I'll say next. He said that it applies on majority of the Yu-gi-oh! forums he goes into and the only time he can browse any Yu-gi-oh!/Forumotion forums is when the clock hits 19:00 (Cinderella moment, lol).

Anyway, I tried checking if it's because of JS, or domain names, but I really have no idea. I even checked if my Forum contained anything that breaks Forumotion's ToS and still nada tukibaba.

What should I say to him? And what's the probable cause for this?

Regards,
Pizza Boi

That sounds fairly strange. Let me get it straight: He can only access *any* forummotion websites after seven o' clock? Does it apply to other websites as well? What browser is he using, do you know this?

Hi Very Happy

Yup, the only 2 Forumotion websites he can log in too easily are these 2:

1. http://www.vylonduelingacademy.com/
2. http://risingduelistacademy.forumotion.com/

As for the browsers, this is what he said:

[23:28:55] supdesup : Pizza Boi im using le windows in le google chrome in le google
[23:28:58] supdesup : specific enough
[23:29:03] supdesup : og and private browsing

Hey,

I assume that he uses Chrome from a Windows PC, then. Is it only the logging in that he cannot do? Can he look at/use the website as a guest?

Could it be that he is using a Chrome plugin that collides with a standard forummotion script?

Hey,

Okay so he can't access the website at all. That is good to know. I assume that "Talktalk" is his internet provider/service. So he knows that the homesafe is coming from his provider; he should probably try to login on their website, and change the settings for his household. If he does not have access to the login information (if for example he is living with his parents), then he should ask them to login for him. After all, it seems that this is the only solution and there is nothing we can do about it. Talktalk may be locking out certain domain names or who-knows-what. He should be able to disable that feature on their website.

Hi Very Happy

I just find it odd because he said he can even browse porn (Sorry for posting this...) but he can't see other Forumotion forums so I put the topic here as well.

Sorry, I didn't understand him at first, this is what he said when I talked to him about the p thing:

[02:00:51] supdesup : lol i cant go on porn
[02:01:01] supdesup : i said i can on the anonymous search engine
[02:01:50] supdesup : https://duckduckgo.com/
[02:01:52] supdesup : lol
[02:02:15] supdesup : from here i can go on it

Hi Very Happy

Well, if that's the problem, you can lock this now; however, I wonder why Forumotion for him is a bit of a problem. I mean, it's not like this place hosts anything illegal or in violation of internet policies (Unless banned by Online Guardian or shutdown for the purpose above).

Before locking this, please answer that question above as I do not wish to encounter a problem like that ever again as I will tell him to tell his ISP to have Forumotion at least unblocked.

Is this only happening on your forum or all Forumotion forums he visits?

Solved Re: Homesafe Problem

Post by Pizza Boi April 24th 2014, 11:27 am

Hi Very Happy

As I stated above, most of the forums he's visiting as only 2 forums is easy for him to access. Really, I tried checking all my contents and my censors as I have censored everything. I really don't know why he has a rough time logging in mine or other Forumotion forums.

The fact that my forum hasn't even started much yet bewilders me the most as to why he has a difficult time in going in. I tried checking my CSS even as I implemented codes for Google Chrome and IE usage only (Styles).

As for the Javascript, I even checked that and the HTML managements. Everything and results: Nada ._. .

Solved Re: Homesafe Problem

Post by RadioHead April 24th 2014, 12:02 pm

Hi Pizza, it could be an issue with the ISP, when the member calls them they will be able to troubleshoot somethings on their end, as it does seem like it is on his end as no-one else is experiencing it.

If the issue isn't the corrected let us know and buttercup will have to interact with the devs & the techs to try and improve things for him, but it doesn't sound like a issue on forumotion's end.

If you want to verify my claim, send me a test account to login with, on the problematic forum that you have access to.

Hi Very Happy

Well, if that's the case, please leave this topic open until I get an answer from him then; moreover, is there anyway that he can bypass that (If Forumotion has a program I can have him installed, that would be awesome) so that he can log in our sites whenever he wants?

No, FM don't have any apps of any sort and would be way to difficult to implement with the current base coding.
FM will have to work closely with the Devs and SoftLayer Techs to try to fix this if it was an issue on their end.

Can i ask one thing real fast what age is set on your forum?
ACP >> Users & Groups >>  Homesafe Problem Utilisateur Users >> Users options >> Birthdays
1. Maximum user age : "what age is here ?"
2. Minimum user age : "what age is here ?"

Why I ask is this info is sent out to the servers of all our ISP's and this is how they can tell what age some sites are.

If not then this is really a ISP server side problem and maybe he's internet security And NOT FM's
