Hello,

You must first make the cells of the table transparent before you can see any background changes by the row. Use the following CSS :
Code:
tbody.statused td { background:none !important; }
tbody.statused tr:hover { background:#F00; }

I would give your cells(TD) in that widget a unique class name so you can give them a background color, or your rows(TR) too.

example :
Code:
tbody.statused td.myclass { background:#FBFBFB; }

Code:
tbody.statused td.myclass { background:#ff0000; }

Edit your recent topic module, find the cells <td> and add your class name to them.

From this :
Code:
<td>content..</td>

To this :
Code:
<td class="myCell">content..</td>

then use CSS to style the cell :
Code:
.myCell { background:white; }
