How to add birthday countdown to portal (make a widget?)

Post by Mr. Eddster on May 1st 2014, 5:50 pm

Hello,

I'd like to create a birthday widget (or atleast make the birthdays show up) to display on my portal... is this possible?
It shows on my forum page, but not my portal page...

forum:http://sports-forumbuzz.canadian-forum.com/forum
portal:http://sports-forumbuzz.canadian-forum.com/

it also automatically updates on the forum page, because it uses the javascript code of{L_WHOSBIRTHDAY_TODAY}{L_WHOSBIRTHDAY_WEEK}

i just want to show the birthday stuff on my portal. Doesnt even have to be a widget!

is this possible? thanks!

What happens when you add the codes to a widget on the portal?

if i just create a new widget, and put {L_WHOSBIRTHDAY_TODAY}{L_WHOSBIRTHDAY_WEEK} into the widget source box, it just shows up like that. Just the text, exactly like that

When I click on the * on the widget source, this pops up with javascript codes I can enter into the widget source box. Those 2 javascript codes arent in there.
we've missed a few user birthdays b/c of this, since nobody uses the forum, everyone uses the portal so it'd be nice if we could have the birthdays countdown displaying on the portal

Hi Very Happy

I'm not entirely sure if that's possible or even sure how to do it, but why don't you just make a list of it in a widget and have it displayed in center?

As for the countdown, you can find a lot of that in google so you can just use their embedded codes and line each one appropriately to the celebrants.

If it were me, I'd do something like:

Code:
<table><tr><td>Name of user</td><td>Countdown timer</td></tr></table>

Of course, the style is up to you.
