Pro Admin Remove Domain Name

Post by ifureadthisdie on May 3rd 2014, 4:45 pm

Hello, my domain had expired recently, and I did not want to renew it, I in fact wanted to completely delete it, as I wanted to re-use the domain name elsewhere. When I requested for the full deletion of it, I was told it would take some time to process, and I left it at that. I returned to find my domain, not deleted, but completely renewed for what appears to be free. I really need that Domain name to be removed and deleted so that I can continue with what I want to do, so I request an admin to be able to do that for me please.
This seemed to have been the proper forum section for this, sorry if it wasn't.

Bump.
It's been quite some time and no response, this is the only other way I know to delete that domain. I shouldn't even have to ask, I requested for deletion the first time, it should not have been renewed without even asking me.
Someone please respond.

Same problem happened to me. Bad luck for you, because the domain won't expire for at least 2 months.
I deleted mine for 3 months and still not available :/ you will have to buy a new domain.

That will not help. That is for unsubscribing from forums.

This does not make any sense. Why would your own request for deletion not be answered. It makes even less sense that I got a free renewal. I'm annoyed and confused here.

Basically because this website is crap lol
After you delete a domain here, godaddy owns it for like 3 months or more. And yes, I am still annoyed about it.

EDIT: You got a free renewal because your website is popular I suppose.

I know it is. Argued with Buttercup for a while, she didn't give me a proper explanation about the deletion and she didn't do anything about it at the end. So I deleted it and encountered all this issues. I had to buy another domain temporarily until they choose to release it again -.-
Very disappointed at this website after that happened.

This thing already has so many stupid limitations and restrictions, and they wont even let you choose what you wanna do with the name. Who thought this was a good idea?
So I'm just gonna have to delete everything, and let the website sit there until it dies on it's own. Great.

Totally agreed. If you buy domain you should OWN it and do whatever you want with it, but apparently not. And it's because of those many limitations and restrictions that I am totally disappointed at this forum and not thinking to give them money again anymore. I even advise people to not buy domains directly from the website as what happened to me was way too stupid.

This is not the place for this discussion. Please take this discussion to private messages.

Even if the domain name was offered for free, the founder of the forum had to accept it.

That does not seem to be true.
I am the founder, and I did not accept the free month, I never even saw the offer. And it's not the first time I got an automatic free domain renewal, it's happened before. Regardless, I should have the freedom to remove the domain as much as I can add it. So is there really nothing else that can be done?

Hello,

Our pro administrator(Buttercup) is currently on vacation and therefore can't answer domain related questions for now, I will forward the thread to her. She'll be back by tomorrow. Just to inform that domain transfers are not allowed anymore.

Hello

You can remove your domaine when you want and return to the original URL. However, we don't transfer domain name as it is explain it is tutorial: http://help.forumotion.com/t128121-domain-name-transfer#857278
So, you have to wait for the domaine name expiration + Godaddy deadline.

Thanks for your understanding.

Hello Angel,

I perfectly understand the inconvenience but the rule is the same for all users. We don't transfer domaine names and you have to wait the domaine name expiration.
This decision has been taken for commercial and managerial reasons.
You can agreed or not it but Forumotion is free to run its service. So, please avoid personal opinion on the Support. The support forum is dedicated to solve technical problems, not to share personal options. You are free to use private messages.

Thanks for your understanding.
